New Year's Eve 2006->2007 pics

These pics are from downtown Calgary, on our way to Olympic Plaza, which was built for the 1988 Winter Olympics. On NYE there were lots of people ice skating, and at 12:00 they lit the flame on top of the Calgary Tower. We just ran and slid around on our shoes.

Doctor Q spurred this post. Apparently he is very proactive about maintaining the user photo directory. So, here I am. Please don't tear me apart or photoshop me doing something awful.

Also, it seemed like a good way to get another post... I'm now going on six years on this forum without an avatar.

hi

I'd only tear you apart if you asked me to. ;)

And Mark, WTF is up with you Canadians? Ouch. I need to move to Canada. :)

Thanks :)

BTW, you just gave me an idea. There should be a website, that's a fusion of hotornot and ebay, where people put their pictures up, and people from other cities can bid towards subsidising the hot person to come to their city for a vacation. After, the winning hosts could leave feedback on how nice of a person the guest was, and how much they put out :p

Thanks :)

Haha! Not bad at all. That said, I DO need to make a trip to Canada at some point. I'm mulling the idea of coming up to Montreal on the train. Any chance I could convince you and ~Shard~ to meet me there? And what's the name of your passenger train system again? And of course there would be no shenanigans. :)

I think it's called CP Rail, or Canadian Pacific Railway. But that might just be out west here. Sorry, but I live several thousand kilometers away from Montreal. But, I have travelled to Montreal several times, more than a decade ago, and I can say that it's a really pretty place :)

Oh that's cool. It really is a place I want to visit up there. And yes I know enough French to get by. ;) Mainly I want to visit to see if I might want to retire there someday.

That's a terrible idea.

Where do I sign up?

Thanks :)

Nice one! I'd subscribe and be willing to be auctioned off... for the right price... ;)

Yeah, Mark's right, there's CP Rail and Via Rail as well. As for Montreal, yeah, I'm about an 8 hour drive east from Mark, so it would be the same distance for me too - a good 4 hour flight or 30 hour drive. ;) That's what you get when you live in the second largest country in the world I guess.

Montreal is a great town though, especially old Montreal....

Do whatever you want in Montreal, but before you leave, remember to french Canadians.

I'll do more than that, trust me. ;)

I definitely will go. It looks like I take Amtrak to Detroit, go over to Windsor then to Montreal.
