For those not in the UK:

The magazine also speculates that the introduction of the iPhone to the UK market will be hosted at a special event at O2's huge London O2 venue in Docklands.

This is the re-branded name for the white elephant that was the £750 million Millennium Dome.

It'd be great if o2 definitely gets the iPhone, I've been with them for years and have never had any problems with coverage or customer service.

My biggest worry is how they plan to release it, I'm not sure many people would be willing to pay £300 or however much it is in europe where we are used to heavily subsidised handset costs.

Better to have the 3G capability. And if you go in a location without it, then the phone just drops back to EDGE.

It's the same as including WiFi. Nice to have as many options as possible.

This is apple we're talking about. Do they do "options"? :)

We'll know in a few hours.

I'm glad that O2 got the contract.

Vodaphone/Orange/3 etc. all plaster their logos and modified phone OS's to include their branding. Yuck.

O2 phones are manufacturer spec, usually come with a few extras and their phones are almost always unlocked from the get-go. Though we're dealing with Apple here, so I doubt the iPhone will follow suit. But at least I have more confidence that I won't have a branded iPhone that says "Apple Vodaphone iPhone" :p lol

Yeah, dont want to have to buy the Apple iPhone V series :D. Do they still sell all their phones unlocked?

In Ireland O2 stores carry apple products. I know 3 does too but Vodafone and Meteor don't.

It always occured to me that Apple might prefer to deal with company that already resells their products. You go buy an iPhone, see how good it is and then buy a Macbook to go with it!

While on the subject of unlocked phones, every phone I have bought from Carphonewarehouse, well i've only bought 2, have been unlocked that was a Motorola Rokr (killme) on o2 and a Motorola L6 on orange. Both worked with vodaphone simcards. Anyone else had experience like this?
