In my book this is nitpicking and not telling the complete story.
Many many times I am reading a printed version of a magazine and the pages stick together. It takes far longer than 3-5 seconds to solve that problem.
I don't even know what to say to this, other than "I do not have this problem with my magazines."
I over 50 and remember when computers took minutes to render a basic PDF file. Thus I have little patience for someone who says that waiting 3-5 seconds to render a full graphic page is intolerable.
Saying that things used to be worse is not a valid defense of modern technology. I'm over 30 and have been using computers since the early 80s, and I expect technology to scale with the times.
That said, I am also not criticizing anyone for being willing to put up with very slow loading times of what are essentially just images--so a little respect the other direction would be cool.
