I finally got my 11” Magic Keyboard about an hour ago. UPS finally dropped it off after it was supposed to be delivered yesterday according to BB.com. I got lucky and got a blemish free MK. I cancelled my Apple.com pre order. I am typing this on the MK right now. Initial impressions, I love it. It’s everything I could ever ask for. I am finding the keyboard very easy to get adjusted to. The trackpad definitely surprised me. I was expecting like a cheap plastic or rubber feel to it like the Surface Pro keyboard cover trackpad but no the MK trackpad is very smooth, almost glass feeling.

Yep, decided to order from BB. Supposed to be here tomorrow. Been stuck with Apple since Monday.

Lol. Me too! We are in the same boat.
Just did the same thing this morning and Best Buy already shipped. WTH Apple...

My experience and I think others too... Apple delivery date was correct. MyMK sat on "label created" for several days and then overnight (last night) I got the scan indicating that it was outbound from the origin. It basically arrived on the date Apple provided (today) and even though it showed 2-day air on UPS tracking site from the beginning (standard shipping) it came next day.

All in all I think we are all excited to receive our MK's and in my case I also upgraded to the new iPad Pro....

Seems like UPS is just awful, their toll-free customer service number was disconnected all day today ("The customer you have dialed is currently not available, please try again later") and I tried 5-6 times, didn't bother trying to contact them over Twitter since they're just responding with "oh we're busy, too much volume", "sorry your package is in a locked trailer, we still haven't unloaded it".

Apple told me to call them to ask if I can get it sent to an access point but no luck with it since their phone is off.

I received the Magic Keyboard earlier. No obvious defects in terms of build, but why does it smell like it was soaked in hand sanitizer prior to shipping? The box, the protective film, and the case all smell like Purell!

Anyway, very sturdy and it does add unexpected heft to the device. Seems capable, but I am also used to gestures with my MBP - some are the same, others don’t seem to exist. Maybe I need to work with it more.

My USB to USB-C cable does not work with the connector, but the Apple charger from my MBP is recognized and charges right away.

Speaking of the connector, I am definitely concerned with the metal piece pulling out at some point. The connection is tight and does not easily disconnect. I had to use two hands to remove it safely.

I like having the backlit keyboard. The keys are fine to type with, but they are too close. I’m used to typing on my MBP.

I don’t plan on using this for my business and it wouldn’t be allowed for work. Is it worth the $300 for limited enhancement of use?

I don’t immediately like it on my lap, but it’s okay. Too small, but I have an 11” - the 12.9 version will probably be better for others. I have to use my wrist somewhat to balance the base, but not to hold it up. The way I type, I automatically do this to some degree. I can angle the iPad as needed.

I’m not used to using my iPad as if it was a laptop, so I’m expecting everything to work as if it was MacOS. A keyboard does that to me mentally and again, I’ve been using a MBP for nearly a week before getting this.

I’ll take some more time with it, but I probably would have been more excited if I didn’t have a MBP and was looking for a first laptop experience.

And this thing still smells like Purell!

UPS is absolute garbage. I know we are in uncharted times with the whole COVID-19 but their customer service and protocols are god awful. My order was supposed to come yesterday by EOD and the only update listed on the tracking page was “Label created at 12:00 AM”. As soon as I saw that I was like there is no way it will come from CA to OH when the shipping label was just created at midnight but I gave them the benefit of the doubt since it still said will arrive 4/22. Then this morning I wake up and there is finally updated information. It says it arrive in Cincinnati at 7:00am and went out for delivery at 9:18 AM with a delivery window of 10:30 AM - 2:30 PM. With the UPS My Choice club you can view the delivery in real time so I kept checking that. The driver was literally one street over from my street around 11:00 AM but proceeded to drive away and left my entire neighborhood. Around 3:00 PM today, my status changes from ”By 2:30 PM” to EOD. It finally shows up a little after 4:00 PM.

I’m really worried about the USB C port coming out of the hinge as well. I’ve seen another post where someone’s already has come out. I think I am going to buy one of those USB C mag safe connectors so I don‘t have to worry about it.

Final update!

Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro 11”!

Ordered on 4/15 at 12:52pm EDT (Estimated Delivery window of 4/24-5/1)
PTS on 4/20 at 1:30-2:30pm EDT
Delivered on 4/23 at 5:45pm EDT

About to unbox it! It came a day early, after much stressing over Apple’s order page and UPS’ tracking website!

For all those still waiting, I’m very hopeful you get yours as soon as possible. While I’m sure waiting for it won’t make it more worth it, I know you will love it when you get it.

Speaking as someone that is still operating manufacturing sites in 3 states as a critical and essential business - there is a lot to deal with just to keep your people engaged, healthy and working especially when business is growing in the middle of an unprecedented pandemic. Some of our products support package delivery operations and our business started picking up like crazy after March 20th as people turned to online sales as "shelter in place or at home" became common place. Let me leave it that logistics and package movement is up a lot and in the midst of that Apple introduced a new product. I think we all know what Apple product launch brings - just read the 57 pages of expectant keyboard owners on this thread alone!

We can all certainly be frustrated. While it may appear that Apple is screwed up or UPS is screwed up etc. etc. and someone ordered after me and got theirs first - my personal take is that we will all get what we ordered and likely not far from the originally provided date range.

Everyone at UPS is trying to stay healthy, keep their loved ones safe, and keep freight moving. There are many others in other industries and in other sectors doing the same. While we are all wanting to get our new "toys" - and lets face it life won't stop if we do not - there are people on the front lines that likely do not even have the time to think about watching Apple order screens and UPS deliver updates, but are focused on a much bigger picture.

Not preaching, just my thoughts - and hey I am as guilty as anyone.... just saying lets put this all in perspective

Ordered my own with shipping dates 4/24-5/1.
Received mine today. And I absolutely love this keyboard.
Although I am disappointed apple used the same material as they do with their folio keyboards. Shows so much grime and fingerprints.
I purchased a skin for my folio keyboard which I loved. So far no skins available for the magic keyboard.

Finally arrived! After reading bubbles on palm rest, doesn't recline back far enough etc... IMO it's perfect exactly what I was hoping for. Thank you Apple.

I’ll never understand why people are so dedicated to buying directly from Apple.

I ordered from Best Buy during lunch (free next day shipping) and I just got my tracking number for delivery tomorrow. Seems a lot less trouble than dealing with Apple.

Ordered mine with shipping quoted as 4/24 - 5/1, was stuck in PTS until two days ago when it popped up on my FedEx app with tracking. Shockingly, it showed that it was to be delivered the next day, but seeing as I’m in Beverly Hills and it was coming from Rialto, it wasn’t too farfetched.

Well, that first estimate came at went, and yesterday it changed to today for shipping with movement from Rialto to Bloomington, CA, saying that it was going to be delivered “4/23 By End of Day”.

Sans an “out for delivery” update, I’ve been waiting with bated breath today for a surprise delivery. Unfortunately my surprise has come in another form, with the latest update showing that my magic keyboard has made its way from Bloomington (about an hour from me) to Kanosh, Utah.

Looks like I’m in for a wait.

Ordered from Apple on 4/15 at 5:15. Been stuck on “preparing to ship” since Monday. CC was charged at the time but was credited back yesterday/today. Ordered from Best Buy this morning and scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. I will send the one from Apple back. First time having a problem with Apple but with remember this for future purchases.
