My wife just purchased the new MacBook Pro which only has USB Type C ports. She needed a mouse so we bought the Magic Mouse 2 only to find out that the included cable is NOT USB C but regular USB so it cannot be plugged into the laptop or the laptop's power brick for charging. Keep in mind that USB C only MacBooks have been out for almost a year now.
I called Apple and explained the situation and their solution was for me to either return the mouse or spend $25 on a USB Type C cable. Looking into this I found out that they are also shipping their new iPhones with regular USB cables. Seriously!??!? Why not ship USB Type C cables if this is the future and include a small adaptor for USB? Or offer the option to buy the product with either USB or USB Type C cable? I mean, Apple did just remove the headphone jack and earbuds... but I guess profits are better than customer experience at Apple nowadays. I'm tempted to return everything ($1,900 MacBook AND mouse) over a $25 cable.
