Yeah, there's a lot of features in there. Worth exploring through the menus and configurations.
You have to assign a key command to both saving and recalling the window configuration of open apps to use that feature. Can be easily missed amongst all the other stuff.

Another thing I've found useful is to reconfigure the functionality of the red, yellow and green buttons. But things like four finger taps are also really useful. I have no affiliation. I just think it's an excellent product and the dev deserves to be supported.

I'm currently using Rectangle but one thing I miss about Windows snap feature is that when I snap one app to the left or right, it pops up asking me what other currently open app I want to snap to the other side. I realize Mac OS has this built-in using the green button on the window but it's not as user friendly.

Does Magnet or Better Snap Tool allow you to snap one app to either side and then pop-up asking what other app you want to snap to the other side?

I use BetterSnapTool historically, and I'm very happy with it. It brings more than Apple's splitView system because sometimes you just don't want to be in full screen mode.
Exactly, that's the one thing I don't like about the Mac OS built-in snapping feature is that it goes full-screen. I don't want full-screen very often when I'm snapping windows for multiple apps.

BetterSnap Tool doesn't have that. I did learn to set up hotkeys to snap windows to a specific location and size it at the same time.

What I'm missing is a space manager that says
Ok, I'm going to create 6 spaces for you.
And while I'm at it, I'm going to put spaces 1-3 on display 1, and spaces 4-6 on display 2.
And I'm going to open the applications you specified in each designated space
And I'm going to arrange the application window in each space the way you want them to be

if I find an app that does that , say with a hotkey, I would be in heaven.

As I mentioned in a previous post, with better touch tool you can arrange all your apps how you want them and then save the configuration with a key command. Next time you want this arrangement all you have to do is open the apps and use the key command to recall that configuration. I haven't tested with with multi monitor setups but I'm pretty sure it would work the same way.

To avoid full screen while using split view you could also hover over the green button on top of the window while pressing alt. It will give you the option to move the window on the left or right side of your screen. If you do this with both windows you want opened (one left, one right) you will have them both perfectly arranged side by side while menu bar and dock will still be available.
I much prefer this to the split-screen view as well, and used the Shortcuts section of the Keyboard control panel to map ⌃⇧[ and ⌃⇧] to Move Window to Left/Right Side of Screen. Moves the window very smoothly to the side I want it on.

Just bought a super ultra wide and currently using BetterSnapTool. It's ok. But I wish there is an app that will save custom layouts. By that I mean, let's say I have Chrome, Mail, and Cal running. I position them the way I want and I save that layout as say "Productivity". I can then go back to that preset and the window manager will automatically find and rearrange all the windows that match the preset and put them into the right place. Any other apps will get either minimized or hidden. I'd gladly pay for that feature.

Have you looked at Power Manager ?

You can create an event that it opens a program, tracks mouse movements, etc and then manually trigger that event as an on demand event.

You can also have scheduled events; so for example I trigger a daily malware scan at a specific time each day.

Me too. Have you found anything that works for saving and recalling window positions using multiple spaces on an ultrawide?

I don't use spaces anymore, but the function in Better Touch Tool to save your screen layouts does the trick for me. It now has the ability save several of them with different shortcuts.

Cool! Does it also save the space each app is on? I usually have apps neatly arranged across four spaces.

The guy who makes BTT is very helpful. He will either try to implement the feature you're looking for or refund you if the software doesn't work as you need it to.

From my limited experience with spaces BTT saves a layout for each space independently. Also, it does not launch the apps, it only saves screen size and position.

You could try contacting him to see if BTT will do what you want and/or if it can be implemented in a future update.

Why not use Automator to create a workflow or app to launch the apps as well as BTT to setup the screen?
