What good is magsafe for other than ruining my mechanical watches. My Omega's will be fine. But my other watches? Probably not. Seriously. You cannot set your phone on a charger correctly? Why carry a credit card on your phone when you have Apple pay?
Contactless payments via ApplePay have caps on how much you can spend. In Canada it's $200 for some banks and $100 for others.

Sometimes I like to spend more than $200. As a baller with multiple Omega watches, you should know what I'm saying.

Huh, I often place my phone on my wallet when emptying my pockets. Could this actually mess with my cards? The magnetic strip isn't used much anymore here and my main card is Vpay anyway, but still something that'd be good to know.

You can’t shield a magnetic field and still use the magnetic field.
That’s not what the shields are for.
It’s the magnetic array that protects external devices.Arraying the magnets makes all of the individual magnetic fields essentially cancel themselves out.

So I have to get a magsafe and a power block to plug in (yes I have a bunch but not USB-C) and maybe a mount to put them on and keep near a power outlet. By the time you get done I am having problem seeing this as much better than plugging a phone into a cable to charge. Laying something on a mat maybe but.
I hope this Magsafe connects better than the version 2 used on Mac Books which falls out regularly
Time will tell

You feel sorry for me? You have the insecurities as I am not the one scouring threads insulting people on interests that I am not interested in with your stupid sad face and violin. 😅 That is the definition of a troll. Yes I see you do this all the time, attack others randomly. How sad is that?

Shows your ignorance as more than half of the people who own a Apple watch own a mechanical as well. Look on the Apple watch forum to get my meaning. They are just like myself. Save up your pennies and maybe buy something nice for yourself instead of trying to bash others who have one. The pathetic one here is you. Go to your next thread as you randomly do and bother someone else.
I think it shows your ignorance when don’t do the slightest bit of research that the iPhone has a shield and so do the MagSafe accessories like the wallet, as it says so in the store description.

I think you need to get a better quality watch if it gets damaged by magnets than credit cards 🥺🎻

I did do research. That was not on their site when this thread was started as others have stated. It really shows your ignorance as you know zero about watches or what I have or don't have. I have a high end collection, some a-magnetic some not. Anti-Magnetism has nothing to do with cost of a watch as you can have watches costing hundreds of thousands do not have it. Cost has nothing to do with anti-magnetism. Zero. If you had any sense you would use it as I already stated some of what I had. Most mechanical watches can get damaged by magnetic fields. Stay in your bubble troll.

Use your violin on your next trolling experience. Common sense isn't so common is it with you. 🙄

Excuses, excuses.... 🥺🎻 and please stop, no need to tell me about magnets and mechanical watches, I don’t care. You don’t have to worry about your cheap omega from breaking. That’s all that matters!

You’re being little hysterical about this. Just move onto a non-iPhone if you’re so worried or stick to older iPhones.

Too early to judge...for me if someone will come with a power outlet with magnetic for the iphone, for me its a done deal..just pop the iphone there vertical and thats it...and since its a power outlet you just take your phone easy without the need to keep the charger in place like we will surely do on the apple charging little mat that will be lift along side iphone when you want to take it away

I think the magsafe will be fine with automatic watches, Apple is not using rare earth magnets in the phone, it could damage the phone and other.

I've seen someone playing with a rare earth magnet and it did some serious damage to the watch.

For one, ApplePay isn’t globally available, and it isn’t even extensible from one market to the next in many (most? all?) cases.

I don’t see on the site where it says the phones magnets won’t ruin things.
Is the magnet in the actual phone safe than.

Hate it or love it , MagSafe is on its way to replace the lightning port all together

there will be no usb c. Even the naming foreshadows the sole method by which you can charge your device. Like the Mac MagSafe

MagSafe is here for good. Great tech that will enable that truly wireless iPhone. Lightning will be outta here in 2 years.

What a nice excuse to talk about your watch collection.

Don’t lay your watches on top of your phone. They’ll be fine.

You do realise the issue is holding a phone (a magnet) whilst wearing a watch is the issue?

Apple had to devise a way to increase power during wireless charging and this is their solution. Qi limited to 7.5 W is not enough to actively use the phone and have it charge. It would have been an issue with wireless CarPlay if the lightning port is eliminated in the future.

I think MagSafe is going to be an awesome! One of the best things about the new iPhones. Faster charger and easier placement. Will only get better too.

You do realise at night phones can easily not Charge by a small movement, right?

magsafe is the future of apple charging so i suggest get used to it...

why carry a credit card? Is this serious? You think everybody pays for everything under the limit?

costco for one here you need your card for payment...

I’m pretty confident Apple is not forcing you to buy one. Not to mention Apple probably took a lot of things into consideration while in R&D.

If you accidentally put a credit card in your pocket alongside the back of the iPhone 12, would it demagnetise it maybe?

No. I use a magnetic mount for my phone already with credit cars in the back of the case. I also wireless charge through the cards. No issues here.
