I'm trying to connect to my godaddy email account and i keep getting an error saying the username/ password is not correct. I reentered my login information and i still get the same thing. My IMAP hotmail account is working fine though.

Anyone else having the same issue?

Hopefully they'll have this sorted out soon.

Have not had a problem with GoDaddy IMAP. However, for a while this AM I was getting an error logging into the SMTP Server but it cleared itself after a while.

It's probably something in the POP implementation. Too bad GoDaddy charges extra for IMAP :/

FWIW, I have the same issue with a Microsoft POP account...but I also had consistent issues with it under Mavericks.

Mail.app is hurting so bad and I see ZERO improvements to "the basics" as they put it under Yosemite.

Same issue with Time Warner (Yosemite can't authenticate POP e-mail account).
As Rudy69 mentioned, cause is likely Yosemite POP implementation.
I plan to just wait for the next beta update. But, if anyone has a fix, please let us know.

DETAILS:
- Error msg:

"The server returned the error:
The POP server “pop-server.carolina.rr.com” doesn’t support Authenticated POP (APOP) authentication.
Verify your account settings and try again.
"

- Re-entering password does not help.

- Issue is only with POP account (Time Warner's rr.com).

- Not an issue in: IMAP accounts (@gmail.com or @icloud.com),
iOS 8 (so, account and server are OK), or Mavericks.

Fix!!

I found another forum post on here regarding the same issues with IMAP, and the solution was to uncheck the option under mail preferences -> accounts -> advanced -> and UNCHECK "automatically detect and maintain account settings". I unchecked for all accounts, closed and reopened mail, and every email that has come in to these accounts since I installed Yosemite finally all downloaded. Hope it works for others as well.

This solution worked perfectly for me. I upgraded to Yosemite and use MacMail with my email accounts via GoDaddy.

After the install no accounts were active. I tried the instructions here to authenticate POP "the solution was to uncheck the option under mail preferences -> accounts -> advanced -> and UNCHECK "automatically detect and maintain account settings". I unchecked for all accounts, closed and reopened mail, and every email that has come in to these accounts since I installed Yosemite finally all downloaded"

Apple's help desk actually directed me to this forum. Thank you Apple helpdesk Australia and thanks to everyone in here for the accurate info.

Mail - POP server

When I try to add my road runner pop email account, after filling in the password I get the following message -

"Mail cannot send your password securely to the server. You can continue without a secured password which could put your password at risk. Do you want to continue without a secured password"?

Does anyone know of a solution to this? When I was asked if I want to continue I always select cancel. Thanks for any and all help.

I've been getting this issue since dp1 with a hotmail account, and as of dp4 it now happens with my iCloud account too.

Bummer

I tried the fix suggested for my Go Daddy account in Mail on Yosemite and still get the same error. The rest of everything is setup the same as in Mavericks. Suggestions?

POP errors with GoDaddy Accounts

Had the same issue as many other and this fixed the problems with ID and Password errors on those accounts. I have 6 accounts.

After the install no accounts were active. I tried the instructions here to authenticate POP "the solution was to uncheck the option under mail preferences -> accounts -> advanced -> and UNCHECK "automatically detect and maintain account settings". Close and reopen mail.

Thanks to all who figured the problem out!

Same GoDaddy POP account issue in Yosemite

Yes. I am having exactly the same issue with my GoDaddy POP email account. No issues with Office Exchange, iCloud IMAP or GMail IMAP. I have provided detailed feedback to Apple without reply. :(

Godaddy POP Emails

When I moved everything over to Yosemite, all my email accounts came over. Except the godaddy account would not recognize the account. I unchecked the "auto install" below and it started working again. Although it only brought in the latest inbox after Yosemite install. All the other emails disappeared. I have them on a local account on laptop, but was hoping to bring them all in to my Yosemite iMac. Ideas o now to get all the mail in? Thx. For what its worth I love the new flat look. And the OS X is running super fast compared to mavericks.

After using 10.10 Beta for several days, suddenly Mail stopped sending, but would receive. There is no fix, so says the help desk. 'Just wait until the final iteration comes out,' I was told. I hope Apple finds that bug.

Have to say thanks also to those who offered the solution of unchecking the automatically detect and maintain account settings option. This opened the connection. What was frustrating was that it was the exact same authentication—other than whatever this default checked option added—as on my phone, and that was having no connection issues.

Anyone know if this is a new option in Yosemite? I don't recall it coming up with Mavericks install.

Same POP issue with GoDaddy/Yosemite beta 1 and 2

I'm trying to connect to my godaddy email account and i keep getting an error saying the username/ password is not correct. I reentered my login information and i still get the same thing. My IMAP hotmail account is working fine though.

Anyone else having the same issue?

Same thing here. No relief brought in beta 2, either.
UPDATE! I just found the 'Automatically detect and maintain' switch and turned it off on the incoming server page. THAT FIXED IT! YAY! Thank you all!!

Yes. Often. Now I can't solve no mater how many times I click "Take All Accounts Online", restart mail, or restart my computer. Mail is coming thru fine on the godaddy website server. My other two mail accounts work fine. They however are not POP accounts.

After updating my Mac OS to El Capitan, my Go Daddy POP email account would no longer receive mail on my desktop computer with Apple Mail. I called Go Daddy tech-support and they directed me to this website for instructions on how to remedy the problem. It fixed the problem immediately:
