Last night I finally got yahoo push to work on my phone. My problem now is that I only have an inbox for my yahoo account on the phone itself. When I delete a message, it gets added in the message area. It says "Load 'x' more messages". When I click on it, it just does the loading animation.
There is no longer a trash, sent,or draft mailbox. Just the "load x" that I just mentioned.

Is anyone else getting this?

Yes, I'm getting that as well.

Another thing bugging me about the Yahoo mail is that when I send a message with it, underneath the message is an advertisement link. Is there anyway to get rid of that? If not then I'll not be using this account at all.

I am mostly using my phone to check email right now. So I haven't had to deal with this yet.

i get the same message. i doubt there's any way to get it removed.

i just tested it out, sending a message to my work email. the message took MAYBE 5 seconds from "Sent" til it popped up on my computer, so i instantly replied to that message, and 6 minutes later, i still havent gotten it on my iPhone

wtf Yahoo??? this "push" isnt pushin too hard

i am having the same issues. And with every piece of mail, the number (x) gets higher. Doing some "push" tests, now I have "Load 50 More Messages, 0 Unread"

its quite annoying, and i wish there was a way to fix it...

Yeah I am having the same problem about the loading thing. Some messages never go away from the "# of messages" thing. I hope they get this fixed. It is really annoying!

Did you have to do something special to make push work ? I setup a test Yahoo account and it seemed faster that I was getting messages but it was still delayed by a few minutes.

That is Yahoo's way of subsidizing their "free" email - with ads. You either need to get a paid account or forget about push for now if you want to skip the ads.

It'ts good to see that more people are encountering this. But, of it seems that no solution has been found yet.

As for setting up push, all you need to do is put IMAP.apple.mail.yahoo.com into your advanced setting on your phone.

except their paid accounts don't support imap!
i highly recommend http://everyone.net for imap email with push. it's about $30/year for 5 personal accounts. the site does not specify imap is included for personal accounts, but it is.
the only downside is storage is limited, but they say they are upgrading the plans to include more "very soon"
i use them for my companies corporate mail and i just transferred to them for my personal domain.
i have been using yahoo for personal for several years, it works fine. i expected free push would be included for paid customers as it was for free customers, but that is not the case. i've called and complained and they just suggest sending emails and calling with official feature requests.
personally, i've been very pleased with everyone.net who also provide email for many large corporations. have not had any problems whatsoever.

Well, I have push working on my paid Yahoo account. I have one because of a domain I own with them, so I have my regular paid account @yahoo.com, and my custom domain @mydomain.com. My email ID @yahoo.com works with push, but the one @mydomain.com does not.

IMAP push does NOT work on the iPhone on any other IMAP server other than Yahoo. I have tried with another account I have that worked well with push on my Treo and Chatteremail, but its a no go on the iPhone. It seems the IMAP configuration on the iPhone is crippled as it relates to IDLE support for anything other than Yahoo. Bug or feature?

All of the discussion has been great, but I'd like to keep this thread on-topic.

If this is something that all push users are experiencing, I'd like to know that as well.

My Yahoo account push is working, and I see all my folders (Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Trash, Archive (which I created) and Bulk Mail (which I configured NOT to download to the iPhone).

I would suggest deleting the account, rebooting the iPhone and recreating the account to see if that helps.

Not that I have seen. Using the shortcut there are not that many options - just your name, address and password. Everything else is apparently hard-coded into the shortcut.

Yahoo service has been somewhat spotty the last few days. I would have push work beautifully for a while, then stop working, then start working again with me not doing anything. They may be working out the bugs.

I went ahead and upgraded to yahoo plus which got rid of those stupid ads attached to the bottom of my emails and also gives me pop access to view mail in Apple Mail on my desktop. And yes I still get push even though its not always immediately sent to my iphone.

I think we can all agree here that the biggest problem, is for 6 months, Apple has been telling us we can get true desktop email, with "push" capabilities. I know myself, and many other users who come from wm6 on exchange and blackberries are used to instant, flawless, consistent emails. Now i know we are all patient, and due to the "wow" factor of this device we are all attempting to work out the bugs, but there is a very small % of people who are getting the "push" to work consistently every time. Myself, as well as many others have goten "push" like test emails to work, however later in the day, we all go back to "pulling" every 15 minutes and emails received an hour after being sent. The lack of a "reply to" is also beyond me. Any thoughts? how long before we see an update fixing some of these issues?

No doubt, as someone that came from a Blackberry on a Blackberry Enterprise Server account, I can say that this can't even be called Push Email.

True push email works every time. And really, I've had a lot of problems with email on the iPhone. I reply to an email on the yahoo account, and click send, for some reason sometimes it just doesn't send, and bam, it sends me back to the iPhone desktop. Sigh. If I tap the mail icon, again I go to my email, again problems. Rebooting doesn't help.

So, let me get this straight Apple, you want me to have to keep a safari tab on Yahoo Mail just to use it on my desktop. Ugh.

Don't get me wrong, I love the iPhone, but it is a joke at email.

I've had success pushing another IMAP account... works better than Yahoo so far.

I'm experiencing the same issue of losing all folders except for the Inbox. I get all those folders back when I delete the path in the advanced section of the email settings. Push, however, doesn't seem to work when I do this. I'm sure this will be resolved with the first software update, whenever it comes.

I had the same problem of not having any folders for my yahoo account on the iPhone until I deleted the imap path under the advanced settings. The folders came back up after that. The push e-mails seem to be still working but just as everyone else said, it's been real spotty. It worked perfectly yesterday but then didn't really work this morning.

In addition, a lot of my e-mails sent from the iPhone never arrive even though the phone says it is sending them.

iPrincess,

would appreciate more info / experiences with everyone.net

is it really doing push, or not, perhaps via IDLE, I am not sure if iPhone mail app on the iPhone is IDLE supported, I'll bet it is.

Leopard mail indeed does have support for IDLE and is check on by default in .Mac for example, can not uncheck it.

on everyone.net, can I use these guys for my email on my domain, macintoshmusic.com, that would be cool.

I am seriously thinking of not re-newing .Mac

Is it me or is Apple just simply stalling on this .Mac overhaul or they have no plans at all on this, just let it die.

Do you not find it very interesting that SJ / Apple and with the whole iPhone announcement there is very little about .Mac, Apple really does not even mention Yahoo really, it's as if there is no mention of any really viable service for push IMAP by Apple, they are endorsing nothing.

The last time SJ promoted Yahoo push IMAP was when the phone was announced 6 months ago at the SF MacWorld, there has been no marketing or promotion from Apple or Yahoo, this is telling me something is up.

I think SJ does not want to hype up Yahoo because a new Dot Mac is coming, (or or Not, Apple will kill it, but I am up in 10 days and can not wait.)

But as usual we are on SJ's time table of when something is ready and / or announced, this is bad.

The Dot Mac silence is deafening, It is saying, dot Mac sucks and continues to for years now and we (Apple) are not communicating anything (positive) to our customers. Need some dot Mac is going to be overhauled soon news or people like me will jump or just go somewhere else.
