Main OS yet anyone?

I installed Yosemite on an external drive to play with. I've found it so beautiful, fast, and functional that I hate even booting back to Mavericks. Does anyone run Yosemite as their main OS yet even though it's only in preview release status? I've found no bugs personally and I assume I can keep installing updates including the upcoming beta and eventually the final release?
 
DP1 ran brilliantly for me, and I almost seriously considered using it as my main OS. But in the end I opted not to, as I just can't risk loosing files and stability if later DP's aren't as stable. That being said as we get closer to the Public Beta and GM i'll reconsider using it as my main OS :)
 
I personally wouldn't do it, and so far I've resisted the siren call of installing the beta (even on an external drive ;) ).
 
I installed Lion, Mountain Lion and Mavericks as my main OS when the GM was released.
Planning to do the same with Yosemite.

I have backed up Mavericks if anything goes wrong. But I am using Yosemite as my main OS at the moment. mavericks looks so dated now. Even with the bugs, Yosemite currently have, I still prefer to use Yosemite :)

Maybe i'm the only one but I am using Yosemite as my main OS. I originally tried it on a separate partition and it was stable enough to use as my main OS as soon as DP2 came out.
 
I was for a while, until I learned that FCPX wouldn't load any form of transitions or title effects since Motion couldn't launch.

Once that's fixed I'll probably wipe my entire drive (Windows included) and jump back on.

I'll probably wait until both FCPX and the Public Beta are available first though.
 
I'm running it as a main OS and tinkering a bit in Xcode etc. But I make sure I have full img backup of the entire Drive (Pre-Yosemite) on an external and do at least daily Time Machine backups as well.
 
I used lion DPs without problems as a main OS, used a modified version of mountain lion DPs on a 2006 MacBook as a main OS (until later DPs where I used a 2010 MBP), and used mavericks DPs as a main OS.

After the mountain lion experience on the 2006 MacBook, which was slow and full of bugs, I decided that I could handle any bugs in yosemite. When I installed it, yosemite was already stable enough for a main OS in my opinion.
 
Been using apple betas as main OS since like lion. In general they're plenty stable enough for me. Everything important is on a cloud service or external backup, haven't encountered any issues I couldn't troubleshoot.

I intend to use PB1 as my main OS. Making sure I take a Time Machine backup right before I do the upgrade, of course. ;)
 
Ive got it on my old Mac Pro but will resist from my Macbook Retina

Mail and Safari seems a bit sluggish on DP1 though not sure if thats my Computer or the Developer build. Will try DP2 tonight to see if any improvement
 
Well, it was running so well on my external drive that I decided to say screw it and did a backup and upgraded to Yosemite. I have a 1TB hybrid SSD drive and it took forever to install and once installed everything ran SUPER slow. I'd select preferences or Safari or something and it would be a very long delay before it did anything, sometimes nothing happened. When I was doing the upgrade, it did say less than a minute left for over 3 hours so I quit the installer and the machine rebooted and Yosemite was running. I did a software update and it found the Yosemite update with was like 1.2GB or something. Even after that, the whole system was slowed down to a crawl. I'm not sure why that is when it was running so fluidly on my external HD. Did I maybe need to do a clean install and just manually copy back my data?

If I need to wait for PB1 then so be it but I can't figure out why it ran so fast on an external drive and so slow on an internal SSD/HD.
 
After using DP1 and then DP2 for the last month on my main machine, I've just decided to pull the plug and move on back to Mavericks. I see a massive increase in performance, everything just works, I won't move until 10.10.2 hits the App Store I'm afraid, not that it's so bad, it's just since my 2011 MBP doesn't really support all the new feature (continuity/handoff requires a BT4.0 chip), plus I really like Mavericks since they announced it, it's been the next best thing after Snow Leopard for me.
 
Yeah I have a similar issue, been running Yosemite for around 3 weeks, no real issues but I can see things are not working 100%, so do I wait for the 3rd update or downgrade to Yosemite

Same thing here with moving back to Mavericks.

Just couldn't stand the constant Safari crashes.
 
I'm running Yosemite it as my main OS. I know I shouldn't for risk of damaging my computer, but it's running very smoothly so far. Beta 2 took care of many bugs, there are still some here and there, but otherwise, it's running great. I'm loving the new look too.
 
Main OS yet anyone?

I am doing the shift back to mavericks now, it's just so exciting to try new things! But I will leave it on my Mac mini for testing purposes. My dev machine will stay mavericks for the foreseeable future.
 
I just switched back to Mavericks. Couldn't stand the bug where my Internet would choke up totally every few minutes (for every machine I have, including ios devices). Anyone else experienced this bug? Or just incompatibility with my router? Asus n56u
 
I'll "get around to" installing YS on an external drive and I'll run it as if it were my main OS only on that drive but no way would I put a DP OS, even a GM DP OS on my internal HDD or SSD. It's considered a good practice to avoid switching to a beta OS and even if it wasn't, it would still be my preference to stick with the (older) officially released OS until the new one is officially released.
 
Although YMMV, I've been running it as my main OS since DP1 ... on a seperate partition though.
 
I was initially gonna wait until DP3 (which is out now) to completely migrate, but bugs with FCPX, Motion, Parallels and (as far as I've read) decreased performance prevent me to.

I'll probably wait until the Public Beta lands and then use my dev key to redeem the Developer Build from the MAS. I'm almost sure that the Public Beta and Dev Builds are not gonna go hand in hand (just like the Mavericks AppleSeed program), but once the Public Beta goes live, the Dev build should be stable enough.
