But the problem I have is that once I put said launcher on my phone, as another person stated, it just adds to the mess. It won't be a uniform experience. The settings and other apps will be Touchwiz and the home screen would be Nova or other launchers. It would add to the messy look in my opinion.

The other person was saying that TouchWiz is a mess. I'd go with the Nova + touchwiz icons..I think you'll learn to like it.

Like say with the GS4, everything not touched by a launcher would have the Touchwiz cartoonish thrown-together and ill refined look. While Nova (I believe this is the one that looks like stock Android) would give it the refined, minimalistic feel on the home screen. I just don't think it would match up well IMO. Am I being picky? Absolutely. When it comes to phones, I am a perfectionist because it is what I spend a ton of my time on.

But you said in your very first post that "you have no problem with touch wiz". If you don't like the gap between the dock and the first row of apps, and won't install another launcher, then IMHO, that's the end of the matter, perhaps the S4 isn't for you.

The nitpicking for nitpicking sake is a, if I might use a phrase from Charles Ramsey, "dead giveaway."

Because the new launcher would not match up aesthetically with the stock UI in the areas not touched by the launcher. I know many people wouldn't make a big deal of this. Yes I've used every major brand of android along with the Nexus 4.

I still don't understand why you have a problem with Nova Launcher. All you complained about in your OP is the space between the dock and the icons above. Nova can fill in that space with something and leave everything else as is. Isn't this what you want?

I suppose if I'm this hesitant about the GS4 then it just isn't for me. The sunlight readability compared to my iPhone, the Touchwiz annoyance and the price compared to the HTC One all keep me away from it.

I have to agree with like, everyone, and say Nova Launcher. It installs in seconds, cleans up the bulky look of TouchWiz, and runs very smooth on the S4.

When I bought my S4 the first thing I installed was Nova. The second was swiftkey. Two quick installs turn Android into a much nicer experience.

Is anyone else having issues with Nova Prime and Icon Changer Free? It's worked flawlessly up until today, but now I can't change specific icons. It says it's created the icon, but it doesn't show up on the home screen.

It does work with TouchWiz still.

We've given you options on how to address the screen real estate issues you potentially see with an SGS4.

As for sunlight legibility, I personally own an SGS3. Sunlight legibility will not be as good as the iPhone. The maximim brightness on the SGS3 is roughly equal to 50% brightness on the iPhone. If you normally use the iPhone with a brightness setting far above 50%, then the SGS3 and probably SGS4 as well will seem dim to you.

Are you considering getting a non-iPhone?

Why not get a HTC One then? It has a brighter LCD screen and sense 5 is extremely clean and non-intrusive.

I second this - longtime iPhone user (still use my iP5 for work daily) and went from a Nexus 4 in February to an HTC One....

Best. Smartphone. I've. Owned.

It is a nice device. I strongly dislike the button layout along with the screen to bezel ratio. It just annoys me and detracts from the screen size to me.

I use my iPhone on about 60% brightness. I crank it up to 80-100% in the sun. I'm still considering the SGS4

Compared with the iPhone 5, how is the screen/bezel ratio bad?

The button layout is something you get used to pretty quickly.....says a user of both the iP5 and One.

I realize now what y'all mean about the launcher. Sorry I must've been a little confused. Nova doesn't sound like a bad option actually. I'd be willing to use that on the GS4.

You're right. The iPhone could trim some fat on the top and bottom. But the HTC One has even more. It just seems unnecessary to me, like they could've done more to reduce the size or just expand the screen a little to match the overall size.
