I am surprised at how many people here are willing to say, get if you like it.

Think diffrent!y

I am a Boblbee and Timbuk2 fan. Both are great bags. The hardshell has been around the world, and the Timbuk2 I use when I don't want to stand out.

If anybody is going to pull off that red bag pictured above, they will need sweat bands, 1970 style jogging suite (or dolphin cut shorts with a polo shirt) and a copy of The Royal Tenenbaums.

I also got the lacoste in a brownish color, it's less flashy. Bought them at the lacoste store here, but I guess you can buy them at most lacoste flagship stores.

Altough I did like the royal tenenbaums comment :D, I don't think I look like a complete idiot carrying this thing around. But what's normal in Europe might seem ridiculous for someone from the U.S. Or are shoulder bags common in the U.S. I actually never paid attention to it, but people didn't make fun of my bag either ;)

Shoulder bags are pretty common in US. I like the idea of shoulder bags but I'd feel too trendy wearing one.

Not affiliated with Company

Since it's tbear's first post, my guess is that he's simply trying to advertise his bag company with a little "guerilla marketing." Kinda backfires when everyone agrees that the bag is ugly.

No, I'm in no way affiliated with this company. If I were, I wouldn't start a thread asking everyone if it's ugly! That would be kind of dumb in fact. I'm considering getting the bag and like that it's called the makbakpak (I'm very fond of my mac!). When I first saw it, I thought it was kind of strange looking, maybe even a bit ugly, but after seeing a few reviews and ads I'm starting to change my mind. & before I commit to it, I just want some feedback. Also, I have a habit of researching and carefully considering anything that's over $50. It took me a year and 1/2 to decide whether to get a mac over a pc! It's not that I'm worried about what everyone else thinks, but I hate, hate having regrets after buying something. Plus my mom offered me her sleek tumi backpack/messenger bag, which she has never used, and was kind of insulted when I turned her down and told her I was thinking about getting this bag. I think her exact words were "you're joking right. That's like taking Mr. Bean over Russell Crowe." My whole family now calls it the ugly butt bag and keeps ragging me about getting it. Her tumi bag is well made and all that but it's just not me. Too corporate or something and to be truthful I find it kind of creepy and associate it with the regular amtrak commuters I often see. I've just graduated and started working permanently with a company I've interned with for the last 2 years so I do want to upgrade and not look like a student anymore but I still don't like the corporate look. So my post was just wanting some feedback and to make sure this is the bag for me and that if anyone comments on how ugly it is, it won't matter and I'd still be happy with my choice. Can't consider a messenger bag as my stuff is too heavy for all the walking I do and my back just can't take a lot of weight on one shoulder. I really don't want a traditional backpack, since it seems like I've been carrying one around since 4th grade!

Seems like it ought to be comfortable wearing it on your shoulders but annoying as you are walking/riding/etc. It would probably be best if you consider how/what you are going to be using it for, a regular insulated bookbag might be better if you are more active, or less active a side messenger bag that won't hit your backside. Good luck with the bag search!

The lacoste one looks sweet. Any link to buy online?

Can't find the red one online; maybe it's the european version. But Urban has this grey Lacoste bag online for $110 - link below. Nordstrom also sells lacoste but refuses to give dimensions. Here's a lovely master's green one from Solis http://store.soliscompany.com/lamebaginbrg.html

makbakpak

well, i'm a little embarrassed to post this since a lot of people think it is so ugly but i actually own one of these and am exceedingly fond of it. Here's some pics. I like the way it looks and have gotten tons of compliments on it. A few friends and colleagues ordered one after seeing mine. But the best thing about this bag is that it is so comfortable and allows me to carry heavy loads with ease. I do a lot of walking and toting all my gear was really getting to me. I own a timbuk2 messenger bag, which I love, but just couldn't take all that strain of 20+ lbs of gear on my shoulder. I still use my timbuk2 when my loads are light but mainly use my bumbakpak. It doesn't bounce around when i'm running to catch the subway and the white color is easy to keep clean and fresh with soap and water since it's nylon. It really is a great bag.

Why should you be embarrassed? It does look good and if it serves it's purpose for you then you have a great bag.

Thanks for the pics.

Uh oh, 2 people who know makbakpak......one asked about it, and one says he has one. One has 4 posts at MacRumours, mostly in this thread, while the other has 3.

Advertising = definitely.

IMHO, that thing is ugly... Get a timbuk2 over that.

that in silver white silver?
NICE. :)

Second that opinion, although I'd recommend a Crumpler instead of a Timbuk2. They make huge bags, but I don't really like the feel of the plastic they use on Timbuk2s. IMO the bags being astroturfed on this thread really look.. cheap.. for a $85 bag.

Your Mac is pimping, why should your bag be any less. My vote goes to ACME :)

Brenthaven Fusion Bag

i have been using this... Made for the MBP, but the sides are adjustable (if that makes sense) fits the MB perfectly as well...

Thanks for the photos of your Makbak and your comments. It helps a lot since I haven't seen one in person and have only read on line reviews, which are also pretty helpful. With all the great bags out there, buying a bag for my mac is becoming a major decision. My back wants one thing and my eyes another.

Actually the second one has only ONE post- the other two are poll questions!!!
