Tiger, you have a mightily covetous setup. Does your neck hurt from craning upward?

I might not ever have meaningful relationships, a family of my own, or know the touch of a woman, but this thread gives me hope still.

No comment on the last part. :D

I just put the TV up there and I also plan to add seating in the back of the room for when I want to watch Directv/ATV2/PS3, etc.

That being said, my office chair is rare in the fact that it lets you lounge back like a lazy boy and the headrest has a tilting mechanism to put your head in a comfortable position. I have tried watching TV with it leaned back and it is fairly comfy. The main issue is the distance, but I have wheels on the chair, so I can push it back if I need to.

Here is a photo of the chair:

Do you know the brand/model number of that chair? it looks really comfortable.

I have a lazy chair but for the living room to watch movies

Anybody who likes watching movies should get one

Lay back and put your feet up

The chair is made by IMG. It is their large sized (I am tall) Windsor reclining office chair. I don't think they make this exact model anymore.

I would not trade it for any other office chair on the market. I have an Aeron at work, which is great for working, but is awful for doing the hobby related stuff I do at home.

I want to see some more setups could someone help me build my own setup by contributing to the thread in my sig. Ultimate Apple environment

My Apple-ified home...

Personal computers
- White MacBook 2.0GHz Core Duo
- Black MacBook 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo
- Aluminum MacBook 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo
- 13" MacBook Pro 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo
- 11" MacBook Air 1.8GHz Core i7
Everything is maxed on RAM and all but the white MacBook have Lion installed on 120GB SSDs.

- Printer/scanner is a WiFi Epson Artisan 810 in the kitchen for central access

Home server
- 2.93GHz Core i7 27" iMac w/ 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD and 2TB HDD running iTunes 24/7.
- ~70GB of music and over 350 movies and TV episodes including several 720p Blu-Ray rips (all purchased in one way or another. I don't pirate software or media).
- Home Sharing activated so all Macs and AppleTVs have access to content.
- 5 of the 7 AppleTVs (as below) are supplied via dedicated 5GHz 802.11n network for stutter-free play. The other two AppleTVs are hard wired.
- Other Macs in the house are connected via 802.11n Time Capsule (1TB gen. 1) and 802.11b/g Airport Extreme (gen. 1).
- Laptops are backed up to Time Capsule. iMac has it's own 3TB FireWire backup drive.
- Internet via 50Mbit/25Mbit Verizon FiOS.
- Cable TV & VoIP by Comcast (Comcast's iOS apps allow access to voice mail, TV and DVR functions right off iPads and iPhones).
- Back To My Mac enabled for remote file access when away from home.

Kitchen
- Apple HiFi connected to an Airport Express for music; stream via iPhone, iPad with AirPlay or control from iMac.

Kids' bedrooms (x 3)
- 20" Insignia 1080p LCD HDTV
- AppleTV 2
Kids can watch movies or listen to music, selecting it right off the AppleTV.
TVs aren't videophile quality, but just fine for kids' rooms.

Master Bedroom
- 26" LG 1080p HDTV
- AppleTV 2
- Airport Express connected to a set of powered speakers for music; stream via iPhone or iPad with AirPlay or control from iMac.

Family Room
- Sony 55" 720p LCD RPTV
- AppleTV (original 40GB)
- DVD player
TV is about 6.5 years old but still going strong and with acceptable picture quality though I'd love to replace it with a 55" or 60" LED-lit flat panel.

Sitting Room
- Samsung 42" LCD HDTV
- Samsung 'surround' speaker bar
- AppleTV 2
- Sony Blu-Ray player
Great picture, decent sound. Wife frequently plays home movies via AirPlay recorded on her iPad or iPhone.

Basement
- Optoma DLP 720p projector
- 105" 16:9 projection screen
- Yamaha surround receiver
- Boston Accoustics 5.1 speaker set (5 matched bookshelf-sized monitors plus powered woofer)
- Samsung Blu-Ray player
- AppleTV (original 40GB)
System is a DIYer but so much fun. Screen is mounted on wall painted deep black. Side walls have red curtainy material like old style theaters. LED rope lighting along the floorboards. And a couple of movie posters on the back wall (Star Wars, Blade Runner, old original THX poster). Sounds awesome and the 720p projector is remarkably good (1080p projectors were too expensive for my wife's tastes when I put it all together).

Personal devices
- 2 x AT&T iPhone 4
- 1 x Verizon iPhone 4
- 2 x AT&T iPhone 3GS
- 2 x iPad (one wifi, one 3G)
- 2 x iPad 2 (both Verizon 3G; wife's is white, mine is black)

My main system:

Image

Apple TV 2 (on top of the Directv Box)
Mac Mini (this is in my office that shares a common wall with the living room. Therefore, I have one HDMI out feeding this setup and another feeding a monitor in my office)
Denon 4311CI - This has airplay built in, so I can control it with my iPad or iPhone.
Eye TV - Hooked up to Directv and the Mac

My living room headphone setup:

Image

Airport Express - This feeds audio to the PS Audio Dac on the shelf.
iPad - I use this for Airplay. I am thinking about adding a 15 inch MBP and setting this area up as a workstation.

Bedside table:

Headphone setup with Airport Express controlled by iPhone/iPad or Touch.

Bedroom TV setup

I also feed this setup the signal from the headphone setup above (via the DAC). Additionally, I have an AppleTV2 hooked directly to the Denon receiver.

The Kitchen:

I use a first Gen iPod Touch with a Pure i20 dock. It has 24/192 DACs built in, or you can send a digital signal to a separate DAC. It feeds a couple pair of small speakers. Since it is limited by old firmware, I use Plex as the main way to stream content to it. I also use it for iheartradio, MOG, and Pandora.

Finally, the hub is is my home office:

The Apple TV on the top monitor is being fed via HDMI from my main system. Since the rooms share a common wall and closet, I have cable going to and from both setups. (The Denon 4311CI has two HDMI outs)

The mini is used for most of my media and the iMac is used as my main computer. Notice an older Denon AVR3300 in this room as well. It was my first Denon receiver and I have been fairly loyal since.

Imagine if and EMP hit your area... that would suck! lol!

That is an amazing set-up. Bravo.

My computer setup is in my signature. Yes, that is three monitors.

My HT setup is partly in the signature +

onkyo 609 receiver
B&W MT 30 speakers (now adding B&W CM 8 to have 7.1 surround)
Sony 46 inch LED TV
PS3
XBox 360

While I don't have pics yet to share (I'm a big fan of doing things right, so I'm going to perfect my photo-taking skills before inflicting them upon you), I do have a somewhat decent system.

At the moment, it's one room only, but when the ATV gets 1080p, I'll be expanding it to the master bedroom to connect the ATV2 to the 26" Samsung LCD.

50" Pioneer Elite Pro-111FD plasma

Pioneer BDP-51FD Blu-ray player

ATV2 (pulling files off a PC running XP)

Yamaha HTR-5440 receiver

Klipsch Reference RB51 (front L & R)

Polk S4 surrounds

Yamaha center channel (HTIB leftover, the next piece to upgrade - looking into a B&W HTM61 or CCMC)

Yamaha HTIB sub (will be upgrading to a Def Tech Supercube 2000)

Netgear Dual-Band wireless N router (speedtest app shows me on average about 12 Mb/sec. to my home)

Hats off to everyone for your awesome setups!

Quick question - is anyone using powerline convertors for areas not easily reached by running cat 5 cable?

One word for Uofmtiger.......WOW!

Let me correct that word......Breathtaking!!
Thank you!

I made a small addition to the Apple-centric setup. I added a 15 inch MBP to use while I am in the red headphone chair. I use an application called Airfoil to send audio (from non-iTunes sources) to the Airport Express I have in the setup.

I plan to get back into photography, so I can use this space to edit photos when I don't want to hide out in the office:

Mind you I am pretty much poor as crap, but both my parents just retired and threw some money at me to make their home a little more fun for grandkids so this is what I did for them.

Mac mini
3 airports
3 Apple TV's
3 flat screen hdtv's
3 surround sound receivers
2 XBOX 360's
PS3
Wii
2 3D Blu-ray players
iPad
27" iMac

They even gave me an iPad 2 and are ordering me a new MBP once the next update comes so I can't complain too much about getting to hook this up.

then i said here's a game boy and a college fund but more power to you.

Here is my setup in my basement media room:

Image

Image

Image

Equipment includes:

Panasonic TH-50PZ850u
Onkyo Pro PR-SC5508P
Emotiva XPA-1 (x2)
Oppo BDP-83
Pioneer PL-670 Turntable
DirecTV HR23-700 HD-DVR
Sony Playstation 3
Nintendo Wii
Apple TV (160GB), Mac Mini (iTunes Server) w/ 2TB HDD for media, iPad
B&W 804S, HTM3S, CWM DS8
SVS PB12-NSD
Denon AH-D2000 Headphones
Tripp Lite HT1210ISOCTR Power Conditioner, SMART1000LCD UPS System

I also use a pair of B&W MM-1's in my office and a B&W Zeppelin in the bathroom/second floor to stream music there.

I really like your setup. I especially like the B&Ws that you have amped. A couple of questions:

How do you find audio quality with your separate amps?

Do you notice a difference between separates and integrated receivers?

I only ask as I am currently contemplating going down the separates route. It is very expensive and I am wondering if it is worth the investment?

Thanks and cheers.

For those of you with these kinds of setups, what do you do when you have a 8TB setup for backup.

As much as I want to rip everything I have, I'm not sure I could afford to back it up:)

Ultimate setup = Mini serving Plex to main TV, and AppleTVs with Plex clients up to the other TVs in the house. (I just have one TV though). You can control all the ATVs with the Remote app from Apple and/or the Plex app that also functions as a remote.

For music, a few expresses hooked up to speakers would do nicely.

i got that, it works well!

Wow really great set ups. What are you guys using as far as routers? Especially for the guys that have several atv, iPhones, and iPads.
