Beautiful and unique. Nothing beats a bit of old fashioned solid wood furniture. And your Plex setup sounds perfect. I tried Plex for a while, but ended up going back to iTunes and Apple TV because I found Plex a bit laggy. Maybe the latest version is better?

I haven't had any problems with lag. At least not in the past few months. The recent update to plex 10 seems pretty solid. Also, with the iPhone/iPad app you can use your device as a remote and access your video files remotely which is nice if you are out of town and don't want to get behind on your shows.

Plex makes it really easy as their MyPlex account acts a lot like Apple's home sharing. Just enter your username and password and you can start streaming to other devices.

I'm drooling over some of these! But seriously -- you had me at "Grado SR60s." Those are my fave headphones! When I win the lottery, I'm going to buy 18 or 20 more pairs so that I am never without them. And I am not joking.

Our house got hit by lightning July 4. Fried our 6-year-old 60" Mitsubishi DLP. We have been without a "big" TV since. I'm glad DH got me a Panasonic flat-screen for my birthday last year. That one survived the zap without any problems. But we are currently researching and trying to decide whether to ditch cable for download only, but I'm stuck on trying to find one simple solution for Netflix and Hulu. (I'm irked that Hulu isn't available on my Panasonic 570 Blu-Ray. They say they're not gonna offer the firmware update for any 2010 models.)

If I could find one box that would download both Hulu and Netflix, I think I'd be ready to get the new TV and box setup and ditch cable entirely. We've got two ATV2 units ready and waiting to be hooked up (one for each TV in the house). We are waiting to figure out a setup before we buy a big TV. I am also researching speakers -- might just go with a HK Soundsticks array. I've had mine for years (through at least 4 different Apple desktops!), and I still love them.

Go all streaming. Trust me. You will save a boat load of money. Just get a new Panasonic plasma with a new Apple TV 3. You can do so much with just those two devices. Apple TV 3 has both Hulu and Netflix.

Well my setup is far from Killer but it fits our lifestyle perfectly.

The 55" TV is sitting on 6 vintage card catalogs (original cards inside) that I hired a local woodworker to create a top and base for. Width wise it's a little over 100 inches. Connected to that is the standard Playstation, Xbox, Receiver (5.1 surround), and my old MacMini acting as resident media server.

A very elegant lifestyle design - like it [+1]

We have an ATV2 connected to a 32" 720P, an ATV3 connected to a 40" 1080P surround sound, and a portable speaker that wraps around an iPad1 and gives us audio/video access wherever we need it - such as for gardening :)

They all connected wirelessly to the MacMini that runs Plex and iTunes.

Use the iPad1 and its Plex client to throw (airplay) non-iTunes videos to the ATVs or as a remote for searching and selecting music (we have around 16,000 tracks) to be played directly from the MacMini to the TV and any remote wired stereo speakers on other rooms (not using AEs although we had one once)

Bedroom looks tight, it's fully complete. (until I get what I really want which is a 55"+)
Office is 90% done, need to get electronic closet finished to get ethernet and power cables to not dangle
Living room is a WIP. Need 6 more speakers, and the closet to be finished so the rack can fit inside.

Next project....bathroom: TV, ATV3, stereo speakers and a heat fan for SWMBO.

Thank goodness she likes toys that take AC/DC power too! That's a good one to take out of context.

No pictures for a few days, our AC was broken and I'm not off till Sunday so the house bitch, I mean the house man isn't cleaning till then. Plus I still need to get our old dishwasher out...it's sitting by the front door.

hey all

I couldn't resist heres my setup in a bedroom i just got the TV after my LG broke down one day when apple adds the App Store to their apple tv i will get one but till than heres my setup:

1.Sony 55"HX850 also applied for the sony google tv free as a promotion I doubt the experience will be as good as a apple tv but I'am an Apple fanboy so i don't want to sound biased.

2. The first gen playstation 3 which does everything i need blu ray movies both 2d and 3d, music, games don't need to invest in a separate blu ray player.

3. Yamaha Receiver mid range and 7 bookshelf speakers with a sub thats about it besides the apple workstation which dwarfs the other side of my room.

you can find my mac setup here https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1391693/

Just got my Apple TV couple weeks ago and I love it so far!

IMG_2183.jpg

my buddy just picked up a 70" Elite and a pair of Theos'. (I have two friends that have them now, I think I'm behind the curve)

He's now switching his Def Tech 9.1 into a 9.1 ML setup. It's been hard trying to convince him to buy 3 depths, one for each Theos and one for the .1.

I assume that's a stage crammed into your stand?

Pioneer PRO-151FD.

Anyone else ever noticed how Apple has used the 50" Pioneer display models to advertise with Apple TV devices?

Yes, because they're the best. The 2012 Panasonics finally rival those Pioneers from 2009, the last year they were made. Damn fine picture on those Kuros.

70" ELITE and Theos nice!

The center is a Matinee (now discontinued). The Stage would be an awesome upgrade...it's just a little too tall to fit inside opening.

Still a nice speaker. I still can't believe it's 36" wide.

I noticed not long after I purchased my Pioneer. It has a very distinctive look, as far as flat panels go. Steve had great taste! Kind of like the presence of B&W on the Apple Store (Zeppelin Air, P5 headphones, etc).

The Pioneer Elite receiver :D

I have an SC 27 myself

Mine is just an even older SC-05. The speakers, sub, and TV were all purchased in 2009 and they are all discontinued now. The fat PS3 only has 40GB of storage lol. Things change so fast.

Planning to get this drywalled in the next month or two (been saying that for 6 months now.) That far wall (where the plywood is leaning) will be a 10 ft wide acoustically transparent screen with in wall speakers behind it. All the equipment will be in the foreground to immediately to the right, nothing in the room but chairs and in-wall speakers. That's the plan anyway. The grey PVC is conduit carrying the speaker wires to the front wall.

This shot is probably 6 months old. Most of the insulation is in and all the wiring is done. I just need to finish up the HVAC and I can get it drywalled. Of course, I can't afford all the electronics I want yet, but in due time. About 18 months in the works so far...

Edit: Forgot to mention, that equipment room tot he right. It will have 2 receivers, 1 for the theater and 1 for the general living space of the basement. They will share the same sources, one of which will be an ATV pulling form my iMac upstairs with all my iTunes, including many movies in 720 and 1080p.
