For me, it WASN'T greyed out last night and I changed it to "off" and watched expecting to see the time at the top flick to 12hour, it didn't.

Got sidetracked with other stuff, looked in settings to try it again this morning and it was greyed out with "ON" stuck in there.

I don't remember, in fact pretty sure I didn't, changing the region or international settings. Perhaps it auto set on one of the syncs or something.

annoying though, hope there's a simple answer other than changing it to be US

Exactly the same thing here - button available so I tried turning it off then went to back home screen and straight back to check it and it was turned on and disabled! sounds like a bug with Apple's disabling code: Why they'd want to do it is anyone's guess though. Fortunately, I always use the 24 hour clock so it doesn't bother me, but it's still unnecessary and a bit buggy on Apple's part

try adjusting this on your iphone

Goto settings —->General—-> International —-> Region Format and set that to United States

The point is that by adjusting to the US region format, the dates change as well as phone number formatting etc. to the US format. Which isn't very handy for UK phone users. What we'd like to be able to do is have 12 hour clock as an option for UK Region Format rather than having it frustratingly greyed out.

I've heard back nothing from apple about this.

It's so strange that Apple have missed this out.

I do like 24 hour though, always have.

I'm hoping they sort this bug out in 1.1.3 - it is rather annoying not to be able to see the time on a phone.

ou actually need to set the region to U.S virgin islands otherwise when you are manualy dialing a phone number it displays in American style. Which is confusing since we have 4 numbers in our area codes they seem to have 1 sets of 3 followed by the telephone number

Aaah thanks for that.

It would be nicer to be able to have it set to UK though, but it is a solution in the meantime.

hi, well ive just noticed my iphone is now in the 12 clock mode. I updated my phones firmware to 1.1.4 when it first cam out and this didnt change it, cos i checked this after i changed to 1.1.4. The only thing i can think that has done this is, i recently installed Caterpillar from Rip-Dev in installer and only done the 3 day trial and after this i noticed the time was now in 12hr clock mode? Dont know if someone else wants to try this as this may help?

My Settings Are

Settings-->General-->Date & Time-->

Date & Time
24-Hour Time --- OFF
Time Zone --- London

Calender
Time Zone Support --- ON
Time Zone -- London

anyone figured out the answer to this problem without changing region? if you change region, it will screw up things with your MobileMe account.
