If he honestly hadn't spilled anything on it then he'd at least have tried other means to have it resolved.

The fact he gave up that easily either means he knows he spilt something on it, or that he has so much money to burn being a 'Systems Engineer' that he can afford to smash such an expensive laptop and buy another.

Well one thing's for sure. I'm GLAD this "systems engineer" has his face on YouTube, and shows us how he reacts to tough situations, so that those of us in the IT field know better than to ever hire him. I know if I see him, he's not getting a job with me!

I wouldn't let this guy be within a MILE of my server room. Heaven forbid a peice of hardware mysteriously get water damaged under his watch, only to have him demolish the place with a sledgehammer when the hardware vendor won't fix it under warranty.

I just don't think "muppet" quite covers it. I believe the British use a more precise term... err... what was it now... oh, that's right- "tosser."

I have another word, but I fear it may get be in trouble on a family forum...

Does anyone here think he hUNTS in s****horpe??

[.edit] HAHAHA it doesn't like s€unthorpe!

GET THIS....The loop hole!

I think I just understood something.....

I had returned my cell phone on the last days of its warranty and was told it would be fixed. I got it back 2 weeks later with a note on it saying they would not fix it cause it had water damage......and like this guy I had and would not put water on my phone. Now, here it comes......Samsung, or in this guys case Apple, can refuse to fix the phone or notebook at anytime by just claiming it has water damage. (I think I am going to return my Apple Care.)

Now I did not smash My phone in fact when I got it back it just happened to work, I figure the technicians took it apart and decided they were not going to fix it for free so they put it back together, and as they put it together they happened to fix what was wrong with it- but still said it was broken with intentional water damage.

The Water Damage Loop Hole........

yeah, that's the problem with all those warranties. you're at the mercy of some repair technician. if he has a bad day and can't find what's wrong he simply says power surge or water damage and you're SOL.:(

getting some proof that it was NOT water damage costs more than a new notebook. smashing the notebook with a sledge hammer may be fun but doesn't solve the problem either.

A line from Mad magazine (from when I was MUCH younger) springs to mind...

"...He's an All-American Jerk"

More interested in publicity, than trying to get his Macbook fixed. Smells fishy to me...

Its his Laptop, if he wants to bash it with a sledge hammer he's entitled.

Spills don't always disable systems, we clean quite a few spills here at our service center and the systems work fine. We also typically don't charge people for a clean up, if its still under warranty (and still working after the clean up). Its just a courtesy we extend to our clients.

There will be people who will bring a system in, play dumb and when we open it up its full of coffee. Its quite possible the guy was being honest as most who do spill fluids in their system 'will tell us'.

There are honest people, its that the few liars that ruin it for other people.

Stupidest. Man. Ever.

Should have sold it to me for a couple bucks, I'd have torn it apart the proper way. The way you tear it apart when you plan to REPAIR it. :D

Yeah, I can see it now. I hire the guy. He can't fix something. He goes ballistic on the server... Or worse yet, he pours his Coke on it and then blames it on someone else.

This guy is an idiot.

15 minutes of lame-fame is done, move along...

WTF!

So... he spills liquid in it. Apple rightly tell him that they cannot repair it under warranty. So he has a tantrum and smashes his laptop.

I just don't get what he's trying to achieve by smashing it up.

All I can see is an idiot attention seeking.

Not the attention that he wanted.

Why at night too. Imagine being a neighbor of his looking out of the window to see what all the noise is about, then seeing him smashing a MacBook up with a sledge hammer!

That would freak me out.

Who'd wanna live next door to that guy.

Not me.

he should have at least cleaned the MB before the doing the vid. it's full of his greasy fingerprint smudges... ewwwwww...
