Matias Duarte is THE MAN
Its less about his qualifications or his smarts and its more about someone from google criticizing a competitor. I think it lacks genuineness and sincerity since its in his best interest to marginalize a competitor.

Steve Jobs did it, Cook and his cronies do it all the time, its no different.

He is right though. The legacy baggage of Windows is ridiculous. It still has the same ****** next-next-next-finish install routine, limited search and lots of inconsistency that is thankfully being patched out. I mean sure, it's ok to use and runs really well but if they would get some better UI designers and let go of some legacy software support they could have a great OS.

IMO the material design in Android Lollipop is the first Android version that actually looks decent. There are still plenty of UI and UX blunders like the none/priority/all notification thing but overall I feel Android is doing quite decently.

Except he isn't. Saying Windows 10 is XP with flat icons is not right at all. One thing is the same, and even that is being changed. To say what he said is to ignore the huge amount of changes both in the UX/UI and under the hood that have changed performance and security. It is trying to marginalize a lot of work.

While I agree, I also think his qualifications and smarts play an equal part. Rather his lack of qualifications and smarts IMO. Seriously, what kind of a skillset do you really need to just flatten out icons, change colors to be white on off white, change fonts and call it a day? Of course I exaggerate, but that's how it looks to me. Heck, go make your OS work properly on a tablet instead of just blowing up phone apps. At least Microsoft has the BALLS to release things like Win8 which IMO elevated tablet use to another level that not even Apple or Android came close to touching.

Criticism from Jobs I have no issue with, even when it's terrible, because the guy was such a genius and accomplished so much. But from a poser like this it just seems insulting and shallow.

I don't see it that way. His only purpose is to troll. I'm not saying windows is perfect, in fact I'd go out on a limb and state that the quality of the OS is not the issue but rather a high level Google executive posted his disdain for windows when its well known they are rivals and there's a high amount of bad blood between them.

I see it as an opportunity to gauge the lack of qualification on his part on the surface, but you're right in reality it's about him trolling pure and simple. It reminds me of the crap Cook said about refrigerators and toasters, then Microsoft trounced them with the SB and SP4, that was just Cook trolling because the reason they don't combine their devices is to sell more of them, not because he really believes it. Everyone trolls, it's an industry standard now and the equivalent of political mudslinging. I'm impressed with Microsoft though, since Ballmer left I see very little trolling from them. I was very impressed how Panay gave genuine accolades to Apple while revealing the SP4 with no trolling at all.

Oh, Apple does it all the time, they seem to go out of the way to stick it to Android, less so with MS in the past but I think with the resurgence of MS, that will change.

They did fire a couple of shots across the bow, i.e., some comments regarding Apple's iPad pro and pencil cough err umm stylus.

Can't be trolling if he actually acquires a SP4 and tries Windows 10. Plus, being a UI guy he's more sensitive to faults than your average Joe. Calling it XP isn't far fetched since I had to, for example, dig through the registry to clean entries left behind from a software uninstall. Haven't tried 10 on a tablet but does the on-screen keyboard auto pop-up/hide now unlike 8.1? Windows 10 and 8 are less polished than Android.

Question is, why would you do that? There's absolutely no need for it.

Though if you're that worried about it, get something like Revo Uninstaller, instead of doing it by hand. It removes EVERYTHING to do with a program, from random folders, to registry entries, to all the other stuff that might end up being left behind by uninstalling using the traditional method.

As it pertains to software that allows remote access to my device I wanted to make sure everything was cleaned off. Don't trust nor want to install bloat for something I can easily do using Microsoft's Process Monitor to log registry and file changes.

It is completely far fetched.

Yeah, no. It's really not. Vista was bloated Windows XP skin. Windows 7 was the same design. Windows 8 was a departure, but it was bad. Windows 10 is still heavily rooted in the design of Windows XP as it was a return to the features of Windows 7.

OS X isn't any different. Since the original OS X keynote, OS X has remained a constant user experience without serious departure.

Both OS's are worthy of that level of criticism.

Either:

A) You're just trying to get a rise out of people.

Or

B) You have no clue what you're talking about.

Pick one.

Jony Ive didn't have any flattering comments to say about Xiaomi. Here is a guy who draws inspiration from Sony.

For anyone who hates Material Design, people should check out the video reviews of the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge. I think the one from Android Authority mentions how the dual edged display complements Material Design very well with the swiping gestures. The edge gives it a floating effect when you swipe away.

I think Material Design isn't that bad but the irony here is my favorite Android software is based on my favorite treats. Gingerbread is the least I ever tried eating and it falls on the bottom

1. KitKat - For Project Svelte and stability.
2. Ice Cream Sandwich - The gamechanger.
3. Lollipop - Material Design, love it or hate it.
4. Jelly Bean - Project Butter but hated RAM and battery life.
5. Gingerbread - When Android was still FUGLY.

I think I will stick to KitKat for as long as I can. Or at least when Android decides to call their version in 2017 - Oreo. Android 8 could be awesome by then. And I love them Oreo cookies! For now, gimme a break, gimme a break, break me off a piece of that KitKat Bar!

Really? How is Apple sticking it to Android all the time? I'm sorry but I think that's a huge exaggeration.

Jony Ive has never said anything about Xiaomi, and Steve Jobs was inspired by Sony.
