And once the USB has been created I can use it on everyone to facilitate installations
Not entirely. You have to recreate the USB for each Mac as the patches differ between different Macs. OCLP makes a custom USB installer for whatever model you choose from the list of supported machines. So if you create an installer for the 09 MBP and install 12.7, you will have to create a new installer for the 2010 iMac, and so on.

Yeah but its not like you need to do a new USB-installer every time from scratch. The USB-stick already has all the patches for every version of Macs, you just need to change the target machine you are going to use it on. OCLP will handle the rest.

In practice you just run the "OpenCore Legacy Patcher" -app and choose the correct machine model (click settings button, choose model) and then click "return" and then "Build and install OpenCore setup" and then write the setup to disk ie. to that same USB -stick. Takes about 10 seconds to change the setup on that USB-installer.

Can you recommend the latest version oclp 1.0.1 for OSX Montery for all the Macs mentioned?
at the bottom of the link there are 4 downloads which one is the right one?

AutoPkg-Assets.pkg
OpenCore-Patcher-GUI.app.zip
Source code

I cannot recommend it to any other computers than what I have tried myself. You just need to try it yourself.

EDIT: I just looked and you have only 4GB RAM. I don't recommend any modern OS. First move should be updating the RAM to max.

The correct download is the second one - the GUI -file.

Oh, you have several machines? Didn't realize that. Well, 8 is better and 16 even more betterer! ;)

What are you talking about? The 1.0.1 was released right away after 1.0.0 to fix bugs and improve things. What makes you think the 1.0.0 would be better? Who on this earth told you that? 🤨 Nobody uses 1.0.0 and OCLP automatically updates the app to 1.0.1 anyway when you start it.

Right. I was just pointing out that it's not a simple "once it's created, it'll work on every device" magic patched installer.

It is quite simple.

Watch this video and observe carefully what he does and says. Then it's easy. This video talks about Sonoma but it's the same process with Monterey.

My long-time daily-driver has been an early2007 17" MBP4,1 with patched-Mojave (HFS+). Didn't wan't to let go HFS+ and 32bit-support ...
I have not seen this thread before today. It was exciting to read. It was more than exciting to read the quoted bit. I have an iMac 24-in, Mid-2007, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro 256 MB, Primary 500 GB, Journaled HFS+. My situation is this: This machine has given me very good return on my money. It continues to perform like a workhouse, without any problems since I bought it. The only changes to hardware have been an upgrade in ram from 2 to 4 & an upgraded HD from 256 to 500 GB. (I also use a 2nd drive for files, etc.)

My income is now such that I can no longer purchase the "newest & greatest" machine like I used to. So, I'm trudging along with my trusty machine, which can rarely accept any upgrades for anything. I'm not sure which will give out first, me or my iMac.

Perhaps my question is obvious: Is there anything at all I can do to tweak up my machine so that at least it will accept important upgrades? Thanks

for the moment it gave me an error when I had to install the patches... I don't want the internal HD mounted instead of the super drive to create problems...

If I turn it off and reinsert the USB and repeat the process, can it work?
could it be that the dosdude patch that I downloaded with a mac pro and then transferred to imac 24 to start work is not working properly?

now it takes a very long time to load the start bar!

I made a mistake in formatting the ssd in apfs from USB installation with disk utility, I had to leave the ssd journaled. from there it gives me error 1 when I install the patches

something doesn't add up to me
seeing as it didn't work with catalina, moreover I discovered that it partitioned both the ssd with a small part in the ssd - data
I decided to try with USB patch dosdude1 mojave and everything went well
now I don't understand why with patch doudue1 catalina it doesn't work when inserting patches giving me error 1
Maybe I created the USB incorrectly or some passage in disk utility from USB Catalina

I definitely made a mistake initializing the ssd in apfs... I should have left it journaled
