Maybe the 27's are delayed because.....!!!!

There is a simple reason for why the iMac is so cheap;
Blue ray drives are more expensive, even more with with slot-load.
300-400$
Considering Apple would charge you 500$ for it, it would make their nice 2000$ top of the line iMac cost 2500$, a price which is much less attractive for the customer.
Of course as an option it's interesting, the screen is beautiful.
Personally, I don't really care for it, I really don't have time to waste watching movies and most bluerays movies are still the usual Hollywood crap anyway - not much repertory cinema movies in blue ray yet.

This Slot-load BR drive is only $199 and I'm sure that if Apple ordered in bulk they would be MUCH cheaper. I really think they should include this as an option. The more research I do the more frusterated I get. I just don't understand

I doubt they're getting delayed because of that, they're getting delayed because of the problems people are experiencing. I hope the Rev B 27 iMac has Blu Ray. Rev B should be here in the Spring.

It would not be cheaper for us... Just look at apple's ram price.
They would certainly take their cut on it.
Through, even if it's only 200$, that's about 4 times more than the current drive. It's not good business to sell half a million computer for the same price with a drive 4 times more expensive. It could only be an option (and should).
They have gotten better, though. The current 8GB RAM upgrade is only about $75 more than what you can get aftermarket. And with my purchase here soon, I'm pretty tempted to let them upgrade it for me just so it's "pure Apple".
