Just went back to 10.6.5 and Safari 5.0.2.

Now the HD video plays fine. I still have all the same apps (dropbox, evernote, etc.) installed and no issues now.

I was having issues playing Hulu Desktop files in HD without choppiness, but that is not a problem anymore. They are playing perfectly.

Not sure if it is 10.6.7 or Safari yet, but I'll try to find upgrade one at a time to test.

That's good to hear. I was gonna do that myself but I'm a little worried another problem might pop-up and besides, updates are supposed to improve not disprove.

I wonder if some other people are experiencing the same with 10.6.7.

BTW, the demo units at the Apple Store were all running 10.6.6... no wonder why the run flawlessly.

Just updated Safari back to 5.0.4 and left OS X at 10.6.5 and the videos still play fine. I am going to go get the 10.6.6 update and see what that does. SO far it is definitely something in the 10.6.7 combo update.

Now we know it's not Safari. From what I experienced with the demos at the Apple Store, 10.6.6 should be fine.

Thanks for the update. :)

Correct Sir. 10.6.6 is now installed from here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1343

Videos play fine in Hulu and Vimeo still.

I forgot that I had installed the Trim Enabler before with 10.6.7 and that is now gone also. I am going to go to 10.6.7 without it first to see which is causing it.

Although I would say, NO!!!!... I admire your courage to update to 10.6.7 sir.

Hehehe... let us know the results. :)

I've got nothing to lose. I just got this in the mail yesterday and all my data is on dropbox so it's no big deal to start over.

I am reading the release notes for 10.6.7 and it says this:
Addresses various issues with MacBook Air (Mid 2010) computer performance.

Let's hope they aren't lying to me. :)

Staying away from Software Update and got 10.6.7 from here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1363

Just ran Software Update and it says that I am all up to date.

Still have no TRIM support.

Played Hulu HD fine and played the Vimeo HD video fine. There were a few glitches when I skipped around, but they cleared up within 4-5 seconds then it would play perfectly until I tried to skip around again.

I am going to try TRIM enabler now to see what happens.

Hmm.. should have gone that route too. You should be just fine with it from what it looks like.

Yep. Just got TRIM enable installed and rebooted and tested again. Same results as the last run. Videos play fine. Slight lag when I skip around, but it clears up in 4-5 seconds and then play flawlessly. Hulu HD is fine too now.

I am all up to date and back to where I started and now my video works fine (It was unwatchable before). I noticed the combo update is about 1GB and the 10.6.6 was 150MB and the 10.6.7 was 499MB. I am not sure where all those extra bits are coming from, but it appears to have helped to do each one individually.

I am glad you started this thread or I probably wouldn't have gotten around to doing these tests and getting my new toy to work like it should.

Thanks very much for doing all that. You have proven that the issue was indeed there and that we should not update from the 'Software Update'.

I am glad your MBA is working well now. Now I'm jealous, oh well, hehehe... :)

I have the exact same problem. It occurred directly after running the OS X 10.6.7 combo update from the software updater tool.

My new MacBook Air video performance is now terrible. Guess I will try to revert back to 10.6.5

Guys, it's caused by updating to 10.6.7 by doing the combo update through Software Update.app.

In order to fix it, refer to the link below.

https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/12361225/

I tested this. When doing the combo update to 10.6.7, I got lagging on the video, but when I did the updates one by one by downloading them from Apple's website, there was no lag.

I'm on a 13"/4GB/128GB SSD and it played with no lag. :)

The last half year the VIMEO site has a problem in playing back video content. Very seldom it is ok but most of the time it sucks, They are working on it already the whole time but seem not be able to fix it. So your MBA is fine !!

Have had my MBA 11 for weeks now and it works great so far.

I have been watching HD YouTube and Vimeo videos with no problems but I noticed last night that some Vimeo vids are really choppy when played full screen. Here's a really good short called Blinky TM (for all you horror/robot fans...you'll love it!!!) that exhibits this:

(Please play in full screen)

http://vimeo.com/hd#21216091

Could anyone with the same MBA let me know if this problem is universal? Results from slower and faster MBA's also are appreciated.

Thanks for your help. :)

mate

if your using vimeo via flash.. issue's will always crop up. i recommend using vimeo's html5 player. if you want to view youtube vids in a html 5 player, check out MacTubes, its pretty sweet!

Bump. This is why some of you are probably lagging when watching vids.

UPDATE:

It installed the Safari update even though I checked it off (????) Now the problem comes back.

I just can't pinpoint now if it's 10.6.7 or the latest Safari update. Damn.

In any case, I can't work with this until Apple does some fix.

I'm contemplating a refund.

Why not just use a real browser like chrome?
