SMC Reset to fix the power issue maybe? PRAM requires it to actually start the boot, SMC is done when it's off. You've probably already tried it, but a good suggestion just in case. Good luck.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion. I've actually been contacted by Guinness World Records- I've won the record for most SMC resets... ever.

Update:

Alright, So I called Apple Corporate Relations yesterday and they got back to me this morning. My local Sacramento Apple Store didn't have any in stock so they had one sent over from the closest store with stock (San Francisco). They used a local currier and it arrived in Sacramento around five. After a painless, no appointment needed session at the Genius Bar, they exchanged my machine with not problem. I've very satisfied with my experience and good luck Airing .

So you still lost all your data? An exchange is expected but swapping the HD or SSD with old one after receiving a replacement would have been even better. You'd have the precious doc you were worried about and all your stuff without redoing a migration, etc., etc.

Did you get a blank grey screen with a flashing folder? That happened to mine, got it exchanged for a pro today, I was so upset. None of the stores close by had any and I can't be without a computer for an "undetermined amount of time until the next shipment comes in." I am really going to miss that thing...

No. My sleep indicator light went on and my computer never turned on again. Apple told me "undetermined amount of time" as well and I called corporate and look- one day and I have my laptop :D
Sorry to hear you had to settle for MBP... maybe they'll get some in soon?

The data was actually a set of files for a website I had due today. It hadn't been backed up in about an hour so I had to re-do it. :mad: Other then that, I'm happy.

Same thing happend to me twice now - total of 4 Leopard reinstalls and failed migration. Almost two full days spend on trying to get this thing set up and spent hours on the phone with Apple care - but nothing worked. Now I have an appointment at the Apple store in the morning -now I'm trying to figure out if its worth trying with another machine or if this is a problem and I should just wait a couple months until they figure out the kinks.

The OP's wouldn't start, period. You look to have a different issue if you're able to start & reinstall software.

Ok - maybe I did not make myself clear nothing is starting - no I did loose any data but that is because I was migrating from a time machine back from my Macbook - and I had not changed any data on the MacBook Air because it just never worked. I was restarting and reinstalling Leopard from the Superdrive, erasing anything on the Air Harddrive. That would work until the first shut down and restart and then the Air would no turn on but get stuck on the blue screen. Heading to the Apple store - we will see what they say.

GREAT NEWS! My new Macbook Air's HDD CLICKS every 2-3 seconds. 24/7
:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

It drives me insane. I'm just going to be waiting for the MBP refresh. I'm done with this crap.
