Apple used to be industry leading in having very accurate battery life estimates. When Apple made the bold claim back in 2013 that their Macbook Air would get a then unheard of 12hrs of battery life (compared to 7hrs on the previous model) it seemed far-fetched, but real users (including myself) found that this was accurate and not just marketing. You could usually count on Apple laptops to actually deliver the battery life they claimed, unlike most PC manufacturers.

I understand that Apple does not guarantee 10hr battery life, only "up to 10hrs in specific light use conditions" on their website. It is still disappointing that, unlike in the past, Apple battery benchmarks can't be counted on in real life usage scenarios.

I've been reading every battery life thread I can find on the new 13" Macbook Pros (because that is the size I am most interested in). They all read like Android battery life threads (I use and love android so I am not bashing here). On android it is common knowledge that you often have to jump through ridiculous hurdles to get acceptable and consistent battery life. People will frequently say things like "well if you turn off GPS, NFC, haptic feedback and run this custom kernel then battery life is GREAT!" <- This 2016 Macbook Pro is starting to sound like that...:(

Not jumping in any hurdles here and so far since getting my 13" MacBook Pro with TB, 512gb been getting 10 hours on the battery through regular use. Now mind you I am not using Final Cut, Lightroom, Guitar whatever. I am using basic apps like Excel, Numbers, Pages, Word, Mac Informant, Fantastical, Omnifocus, Day One, Safari, Mail, Outlook, Hallmark Card Studio, PowerPoint or KeyNote, Quicken 2017 etc. I've watched a few TV episodes, and a movie so far. It's been great and I have been satisfied.
