They definitely do not! My 16“ dropped to 93% with only 52 charges. That’s pretty weak
I'm down to 96% after 18 cycles. Probably had dropped just sitting on a shelf, calibration probably caught up to it. Will have to see how it fares long term (not too worried yet, but if it's under 90% after 100 cycles, I'm gonna be a bit more concerned).

You realize these are not precise, right? The circuitry of the battery does its best to measure the output of the chemical reaction that the battery is capable of, but it's not some perfectly linear measurement. I've seen mine go down and then go back up again, doing this gradual see-saw motion downward over time, according to coconutBattery.

I just use my Mac normally, charge how and when it's convenient for me and get on with my life. So many people on these forums treating their battery usage like it's a tedious hobby. It's a consumable part, and it's not even that expensive to have replaced.

The good news is, the Apple Silicon Macs have such improved power consumption we end up charging our batteries less frequently (and getting more time between charges) so they should last a lot longer than the ones in those gasping, wheezing Intel MacBooks.

Oh, of course. This is part of why I'm not terribly concerned, these things easily do have a 2% margin or so. I'm also not terribly surprised if it has lost a few percentage points from calendar aging, that's not to be unexpected.

I'm a bit obsessive over some of these things more so out of interest than out of concern. I like to know all of the minute little details about how things work, I'm never quite satisfied with just knowing the conclusion until I also know the why behind it. It's just something I find enjoyable (and I guess I am a software engineer by trade, I do this kind of thing for a living and get paid to do what I love.)
