@patrickplaggenborg - Didn't see your replay for a while. Your problem looks very similar to mine, different shapes but same type of discoloration. I was finally able to take it into an Apple store this weekend and was told it'd take 3-5 days to get it back. Did they fix your screen, or replace your whole MBP?
It was within the first weeks of buying it, so I returned for the no-questions-asked money back guarantee and bought a new one.

This was recommended by Apple Genius staff on the phone.

Sorry to bump this thread. But for those interested, my MBP was returned and the display assembly was replaced. Official "symptom" listed on the return paper is "incorrect colors or tinting." Turn around time from dropping off to the Apple store to receiving it back was 4 days. Looks great now.

They just return back to me said "NO ISSUE FOUND" about 2 month ago.

Looks like they starting to acknowledge the problem.

Here is an image. Not sure how this could be a "user fault this one" as you proclaim.

It seems to only be noticeable when the background is a solid color.

What really gets up my nose is when you take the laptop back to an Apple Store and show them the issue ...A:They can't see it and do their best to convince you that you are hallucinating, and B: even if you can convince them to acknowledge that there is bad colour and light/shade uniformity they tell you that it isn't categorised as a major problem. Then you ask them if MacBook Pro's are actually designed and manufactured with creative professionals in mind and they say "yes they are". Clearly they aren't, particularly photographers. I've considered taking a laptop in with the screen removed and ask them if they can see the problem I have with the laptop. And the other thing that annoys me is when you read reviews online and watch on You Tube , the screens are always lauded as perfect or amazing. They would be if they were more colour correct and uniform. Never is the uniformity problem mentioned. I still have my 2011 MBP with the last of the high res anti glare matte screens and it is a joy to work with. But it will die soon because of the graphics chip problem. Wishful thinking but I hope one day Apple bring them back. I'm hoping for a replacement for the current 2017, fingers crossed I get a better screen than is currently on this one. I so so don't want to move over to Windows after using Mac for 20+ years.
