I must say that while i do agree that the extra cost sucks for dongles. But the extra cost really isn't that much when you are paying all ready this much premium for the machine. (Which sucks)

However, I do see benefit for dongles.
A) it looks nicer when you have multiple things plugged into it.
B) Not everyone needs Ethernet plug, or sd-card slot, or multiple USB A ports or regular thunderbolt connectors etc. This way you can buy the things that YOU need. (But also there's no hurt if it's allready in there. You are not just using it).
C) USB-C is the future. (Atleast it is now after this)

And the fact that everybody is bitching about the battery life. Mac's have way better battery life compared to Windows-laptops in general.

But anyway, it feels like that this generation has way to many bugs... Personally going to wait for the KL update.

Just my 2 cents

Looks like the same number of cables to me, just a different configuration. It’s like Trump speaking out of both sides of his mouth.

My point being that the USB-C ports has made my cable management and dongle life better, not worst. Rather then having 5 cables plugged into my MBP, I now only have 1 thing to unplug or plug in. Much better in my opinion.

There is another benefit, at least at work. Macs with USB-C are compatible with USB-C PCs. Meaning hot-swap desks can now share the same dock/hub/peripherals between Macs and PCs and above all the same charger!. One port to rule them all.
