I found that my battery health is 95% after 37 cycles. It doesn't seem right to me. Does anyone have any comments?

Sounds fine. Just keep using it and then if it ever drops low just head into your apple store and have them give you a new one. Don't worry about it.

how do you check how many cycles you have been through and the % of battery life? Sorry for the newbie question, new to mac and lovin it.

There are two ways. Search and download coconutbattery. Its super fast and will tell you all you need to know.

or go into spotlight, search System Profiler. On the side, click power. then down towards the bottom it will show you how many cycles.

Good luck

96% at 20 cycles.

Looks like that's around the average.

Also, rsmith652, another way to get the cycles/health of your battery is by using the iStat Pro widget (or menu bar tool). Great little program that displays a ton of info on your system at any time.

I think it depends on how you use it. For example if you use your battery constantly you wear it out more. This website tells you how you can maintain higher. My MBP is currently at 99% after 91 cycles. It did drop to around 96% at less cycles but I followed what that site said.

How do you calibrate the battery? Is there a program on the MBP that does it?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you drain your battery (until your mb/mbpro shuts itself off and goes into sleep mode) and then stick it on the charger and let it charge overnight without touching it.

I've heard the best way to use your mb/mbpro is to use the battery whenever possible. It keeps the health above 90% longer. Don't attach it to the adapter unless you absolutely have to.

i have heard differently. Even apple says to use your battery as much as possible.

Im not sure this site is right. It just might be a matter of opinion.

my battery health is 40% after 46 cycles and lasts 1.5 hrs after upgrading to leopard. used to be 95% and lasts over 3 hrs in tiger. is this a software issue? or should it be replaced? apples battery site says the batteries are designed to retain 80% of their original charge after 300 cycles.

One thing about that article worried me- it says consider disconnecting the battery when on main power. I run my laptop almost exclusively while plugged in and don't really wanna take the battery out every time.

Could you please show me where it says that? It would be great to have this when you discuss with applecare.
