I work at a College in Australia - all our new students this year that purchased Apples got the M1 (over 100 devices)
We did a NAPLAN Test today that pushed their CPUs a little.
Every M1 flapped their connection, I don't think direct replacement is going to fix this for us
For anyone interested below is the wifi.log of the device flapping ~

I have a m1 MacBook Air, it is running macOS 11.2.3 and have had no issues with wifi or using my hotspot at all.

As clarification there were 20+ MacBook (not M1) running on 11.x and 40+ windows (mix of Surface devices) that all worked as per normal.

We only saw this flapping issue on M1s, Since the start of the year we've had sporadic reports of it on campus. We managed to get a screen recording, timing and logs today so that was neat.

Did you submit this to bugreport.apple.com?
The good news here is that if its this common and reproducible then theyre having the same issues.

Deploy this command to your M1 Macs (Or any Mac that is running macOS 11.x)

I've found that macOS 11.x no longer has JoinMode set, on 10.15 or lower this is set to JoinMode=Automatic

sudo /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions/Current/Resources/airport prefs JoinMode=Strongest JoinModeFallback=Prompt DisconnectOnLogout=NO AllowLegacyNetworks=YES

I tried this, it had no discernible effect for me. Wifi connection still dropped regularly and it doesn't try to reconnect automatically even tho the network is still there and is preferred.

This tells me buying the cheapest equipment for Wi-Fi in school! I bet you don’t even use Wi-Fi 6! Did you report this to the proper Apple Feedback at the very least!
TBH I’m not sure what you are talking about re school.

Re apple feedback, I took my computer to the Apple Store. Twice.
