Wow i thought mine was really hot. Right when I turn it on it is 22C after 8 hours being on (not heavy useage) I would say messenger, web surfing, yahoo pool  and itunes it runs about 42C. I dont think I should be worried should i?

Sorry, if you think that I honesty did not mean to brag. I dont know a lot about my MacBook pro. Bought it 1 month ago, been in repair for 2 weeks. Just picked it up like less then a week ago. Monitor problems/damaged casing. I thought 42C was very hot, the metal burns my skin... they should have some health hazerdous signs on these machines.

actually im sorry, i shouldnt have said that, i guess i was fed up with a pretty bad week. anyways enjoy your system and if it gets too hot just stop by an apple store and have them check the thermal grease. im thinking about sending it in to apple.

Is 42C surface temperature or the temperature measured off the cpu chip using some monitoring app?

42C is very cool if it is off the CPU, off the surface it is somewhat irritating though.

I went into the apple store in Novi Michigan yesterday and all of the macbook pros except for like 2 were veeeeeeeerrry very cool to the touch, and this was probably around 8PM..near closing time..so those rigs have been on and running ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL DAY and they were nice and cool..I even felt the bottom of them! Weird.....
