Not that we've acquired enough samples to make a judgement as to Apple's progress, but so far it's not looking too good...

12 voted yellow, or 39% yellowed screens
19 voted NOT yellow, or 61% good screens

My MBP arrives tomorrow. I look forward to voting

I have a 2nd generation MacBook Pro with the matte finish. It does not have any grainy appearance to it whatsoever.

I'm glad that I did not jump when the 3rd generation MacBook Pro's were released. So far except for a teeny weeny speed bump, I think I have the better machine.

My screen is not yellow.

Hey all, I had two quick questions as a recent switcher:

1)Does the yellowing seem like something Apple will eventually acknowledge and offer fixes for in the future free of charge? Is there any kind of current time frame for replacement? I bought mine back in June.

2)I know a lot of users have switched in their MBPs due to yellowing issues. Some have even gone up to their 5th MBP. My question is, what is the advantage of this vs. a "repair" option where just the screen gets replaced. I ask only because I seem to have a perfect MBP (no odd key angles, no odd gaps when closing, etc), but my display does seem darker and less white at the bottom 1/3rd despite various color profiles.

Thanks all

Edit: For the record, I have a 2.2ghz 15" Samsung Matte screen

are you talking about the bottom third yellow or the side yellow?

You probably should specify as some people are getting the two confused....

How apparent is the yellowing for you guys? It's hardly noticeable on mine and the only way I really see it is when I pull up that black background with the two white boxes in slide show view, and even then it's hard to see unless you look really hard.

Just not sure if I should bother trying to get it exchanged. I just hope the problem doesn't get worse in the future.

Here's a picture: http://web.mac.com/jamiemun/misc/screen03.JPG

See any yellow? If I stare at the bottom long enough I think it turns yellow... *shrug*

And another with the gray test: http://web.mac.com/jamiemun/misc/screen04.jpg

What's weird is the edges look horrible in this picture but it doesn't appear that way in person.

Your gray test, look at the bottom left.

The bottom square is also dimmer.

I do not know if this justifies a yellow screen.

What does front row look like for you guys? With mine the bottom third of the screen is faded out, not close to being sharp black like the top.

This might be normal, I just want to check.

As for yellowing, it looks like I have some, definitely with some profiles and definitely when looking from the side.

hey raska can you post some pictures of your new mbp with lg sreen using the screen test the black test and the grey test.

I'm just curious if its the same as eluzion
