Latency

Just to be clear, will this mem work in the new i7 imac?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231295

New memory at this time may be slower.
Memory manufacturers list latency as either the CAS or CL rating.
The lower the latency, the faster the memory is at responding to instructions.

From OWC site:
4.0GB(2x2.0GB Kit) PC8500 DDR3 1066MHz SO-DIMM 204 Pin PC3-8500 Memory Upgrade Kit for Late 2008, Early 2009, Early 2010 & 2009 iMac models.
CL = 7

4.0GB (2x2.0GB Kit) PC3-10600 DDR3 1333MHz SO-DIMM 204 Pin CL9 Memory Upgrade Module for Mid 2010 21.5" & 27" iMac Models
CL = 9

Can I ask why so many of you seem to need the i7 ??

in my instance i required a computer that was more efficient at multitasking a large number of high intense CPU programs, but i didnt really need the expandability of a MP. the new quad core 2009 iMacs were perfect for this task! so i went ahead and got one. my upgrade to 12GB RAM will be most welcome, 4GB doesnt cut it for the work i do with it.

in a lot of other users instances its probably the same, wanting a powerful machine that will last.

can someone verify that:

SODIMM is normally 204 pin, and its recommended to use CL7 - CL9 at this stage is pretty unstable and not really supported. :(

Multitasking
value of the i7 refurb(cheaper than the '10 i5...once gpu is upgraded - even with edu/other discount)
longer term resale value(always resell my macs - when upgrading)
a few programs I use will likely benefit from HT when updates are written

yes, thats right - but also given that the RAM has been proven to be supported to work in Apple products. CL7 is the only known working RAM for Apple products, CL8/CL9 are VERY unstable.

but it isnt 1333mhz ram, its 1066, thats not ok for the new generation imac?
