Anyone see the Blackberry Storm commercial yet?

I just saw it, it's the Storm, face-down on a table, with some voice over talking about the first touch screen Blackberry. Then, a hand grabs the phone and goes to flip it over and the screen goes black just before you see what it looks like and then it says Blackberry Storm, Verizon, blah blah.

They're really going for shock value with this thing, when they probably don't need to, its a nice looking phone and they're marketing to their own customers anyway. Customers who are going to eat it up because its going to be better than the crap "touch screens" Verizon already has.

I actually laughed out loud when I saw the commercial and they didn't show you what it looked like.

Haven't seen it yet, and not looking forward to it either. Is it just me or is it just like those Windows PC Seinfeld commercials that I didn't get either?:p

Maybe b/c it's not been released yet due to all the DELAYS, and the fact that it has too many glitches and bugs to be released...

I live in the US and I have AT&T and I have Not had any problems with AT&T's service. I think the people who are complaining live out in remote areas and have to drive for an hour to find civilization.

Um.... no. Pull up the AT&T coverage map, then open a new browser window and pull up Verizon's coverage map. Notice the HUGE difference? There are a lot of urban areas where AT&T coverage is pretty poor. Ask anyone living in NY City for example.

I recently switched from Verizon to AT&T in order to get the iPhone. I'm happy overall, but I knew I'd take a hit in coverage quality and sure enough I have. It's not TOO bad in my area (Sacramento), most of the time it's fine actually, but that's only because AT&T has invested a lot in this area very recently (which is why I was able to convince myself to switch). But I've already made some road trips in my state and found myself in places where my phone doesn't work at all while I'm surrounded by folks yapping happily away on their Verizon phones (try anywhere on the Cali coast north of Santa Rosa).

People who say AT&T coverage sucks are speaking the truth. If it's not true in your area, you are lucky. But to AT&T's credit, they are working hard on it.

Though it looks nice, I won't be getting one. I have two iPhones and this week picked up a Blackberry Curve. I'm kind of bored with the iPhone. I'm going to sell one iPhone and use the Blackberry as my main phone.

If the Storm wasn't exclusive to one carrier, I would get it when it's released but I want to stay with AT&T.

By the way, there is no WiFi on the Storm.

Storm

I would love an iPhone, but our company is Vodafone contracted so it's no go.

We don't have a BlackBerry server but I will be able to get a Storm no problem simply because I can use it on Vodafone.

I would guess that plenty of people are in the same position as us.

There is no-way our company will switch to O2, so until Apple open up to other carriers they will continue to hand business to BlackBerry or Nokia with the N95.

:(

There's absolutely no way I'd use the iPhone as my main phone, or my main messenger - it's effective enough for the basics, but rather toy-like on the back end. All this talk with Exchange compatibility bringing it into the 'enterprise' - it just goes to show the average Apple flag-waver has no idea of the needs of an enterprise, or indeed a small business who actually knows what they're doing in technological terms.

It may not feel any different for the average joe who has signed up for the consumer Blackberry plan, and I can only assume that the badly-paid zero-experience Apple-drooling-over bloggistas du jour have only ever got thus far, but things are very different once you have control over / knowledge of the back end.

This year I have reluctantly embraced the push inbox and the only candidates I'd consider at the moment are Windows Mobile and Blackberry for their messaging / remote information access utility. I use a Curve at the moment but will definitely take the opportunity to look at the Storm. I'm not convinced that the touch keyboard with feedback will be much better than the thumbboard which I've got very quick at (in comparison to the iPhone keyboard which drill screws up door me when I try and type as fast as the Sony UX / Bkackbetru :p).
