That's not a bad price a quality game. It's ten bucks. Ya spent all the money on the phone. Go all out for it. Don't be that cheap.

I wish they let us demo all applications so we wouldn't pay $10 then find out that we didn't like the program...

yeah, but if they had to make a demo or a lite version, they would price the end game at 15$ instead of 10$. Keep in mind DS and PSP games are 30$ to 40$.

Why would they bump the price up by $5 because they released a demo? Yes, it requires a little more work, but I'm sure they would get at least that many more sales due to people being able to try out the game.

and here we see why the iPhone, although spec wise in the same console class as an original Microsoft Xbox (less graphics power but more power than an Xbox in every other spec), will not be able to thrive as a gaming platform.

What incentive is there for a good developer to put time and money into a FULL game that is truly amazing and is worth being treated as a full game, if even $10 is considered too much for an iPhone game. Developers will want to charge the same for an iPhone game as they do for a DS or PSP game. although it can be argued that they should charge less because their product doesnt include packaging, etc., it is ridiculous to expect them to charge $30 dollars less or more. I would love to see a $30-$40 dollar game on the app store. As long as its a game thats WORTH $30-#40

I've been playing this games for the last 2 couple of hours, and I believe it is the best iPhone game so far!!! It is entertaining, great graphics for what it is, good control scheme, enemies are interesting and look good. Congratulations to Gameloft, they seem to keep raising the bar on iPhone games.

no, they cost $60 instead of $55

the price increase from $50 to $60 that happened when the xbox 360/ps3 came out was due to an increased cost of development because of the new hardware

not because they started offering demos

I agree. The game is DEEP. It also looks GREAT, and is FUN to play - a combination not seen together a lot.

Congratulations to Gameloft, they seem to keep raising the bar on iPhone games.

Ditto... I've become kind of a casual gamer, now, and this is only the second purchased game for me (Spore and now Hero of Sparta), but I am very impressed. The graphics are excellent. The gameplay for this kind of genre is not half bad. The levels are well thought out and fun.

IGN and others estimated gameplay at about 5 hrs for once through -- the first couple of chapters are short (5-10 minutes) and some of the later ones are much longer, I guess, as noted above.

I'd still like to see platform games that cost a little more (perhaps $15-25USD) and had longer gameplay (15-20 hours), but this is excellent, and hopefully Gameloft will be able to continue to refine the engine and put out longer, more detailed games based on the same core.

As for it being a God of War rip off... erm... I know when I was a kid, there was Golden Axe... this was a sadly long time ago. This genre has been around forever. Sure, this game is as derivative as most of them, but I still really like it. :)

This game is off the hook!

There's so many new weapons to get in addition to new gear you can get. And it seems each level has it's own "puzzle" you have to figure out. I think it's the best game on the iPhone considering its graphics, animation and gameplay.

I'm still really enjoying it also... I've finished up through Atlantis (so I have two chapters left). I died a couple of times on easy mode (I know, I suck. ) in the earlier chapters, but then since then the battles in Easy mode are not overly challenging. There are enough missed items that it'll probably be worth going back in Hero mode. The graphics continue to be fantastic, although after the first few chapters, it's disappointing that the pace of new enemy types really slows down.

The items you get are lots of fun, also, and pretty thoughtfully done. I really like the battle-axe.

Also one other minor quip is that all the focused kill sequences use the sword and shield, which I found mildly disappointing.

Overall, a very worthy game, though. :)

I'm just floored at the graphics on this game.. i'm not a gamer but this is the first title i've bought in over 15 years (along with fieldrunners)

fun game, reminds me of playing final fight in the arcades as a whipper-snapper.

I just finished it for the second time in Heroic mode... Heroic mode in places was barely harder than Easy, if not easier (the first chapter or two were substantially easier than my first time through with no weapons and no level development). But it got fairly tough in the later chapters, and the last few segments of the Underworld were quite difficult. There were still maybe three crystals total I did not find.

Oddly, some of the "hints" during loading were kind of silly. I got told during heroic mode that I could go back and play the game in Heroic mode, which would be unlocked once I finished the game.

Only other qualm that came up during the replay is how difficult cycling through weapons is. The weapons select button is not that sensitive, since it's small and in a corner, and It's a major nuisance to have to retreat and try to find safe space while you're cycling through weapons. It would be nice if you could select your weapon while the game was paused -- I don't think you can. There are lots of situations in Heroic mode where I find it beneficial to alternate between the Axe and the Bow (I love the dual blades, but they just don't cut it against the enemies that have physically longer weapons like the minotaurs with clubs and axes). Unfortunately, cycling from Axe to Bow entails going through every other weapon as an intermediary.

Anyway, supremely satisfied. Excellent game at $9.99.

I have not found it hard to switch weapons. I do it all the time between battles. Sometimes even mid-battle.

It is a bit hard to get to though. That's the limitation of a touch screen. You definitely do not want to accidentally change your weapon.
