If this is correct, you are a legend. (and somebody broke their NDA!)

Some of the PDF info is on the website under "App store"

iWork. Completely reimagined for iPad.
The iWork productivity applications that people know and love on the Mac — Keynote, Pages, and Numbers — have been completely redesigned for iPad. So you can create incredible presentations, word processing documents, and spreadsheets by touching words and images on the large, Multi-Touch screen. Each of these apps has been designed specially for iPad, with all-new features. So while they’re easy to use, they’re also the most powerful productivity apps ever built for a mobile device. You can import iWork ’09 and Microsoft Office documents and send documents in iWork ’09 and PDF formats. And because Keynote, Pages, and Numbers will be sold individually on the App Store, you can purchase them all at once or add them to your iPad over time.

I currently have a working printing solution for us using the Eurosmartz Print and Share product with Notebooks. It prints what we need - and I expect Apple to offer a better solution with Bonjour enabled printers!

that article is not really a "yes" at all. It's vague speculation by anonymous sources claiming to have insider knowledge that it will be added. No idea where they pulled the word "confirmation" from....

As for the mobile iWork hopefully it will be able to send in more formats than iWork and PDF. It really needs to be able to send in doc format as well for collaborative purposes.

Printing from the OS would have been a lot better, but I'm sure that like the iPhone, people will create apps to print from the iPad.

Syncing my documents to print won't be that big a deal.

Yep, I just saw Andy Ihnatko say that on the live demo feed. There is no facility built into the iPad at all for printing. He then used that to segue into this is not a standalone device and was never meant to be. It's meant to be tethered to sync.

When they do that, though, won't you only be able to print content that is from within that app?

so Apple specifically re-tools Pages and numbers yet doesn't give it the ability to Print?

Sorry - but I find that unacceptable....

Apple is clearly positioned this device as NOT a laptop/desktop replacement.

It's an accessory device which makes sense why they didnt load it with a million drivers to allow it to print.

I barely print personally, so it doesn't bother me at all.

There are multiple apps for the iPhone that allow printing of photos, E-mails, etc. I'm sure most of those apps will also work on, or the companies will come out with, iPad versions.

Listen to what Andy (and every other reviewer keeps saying)..... The iPad WILL NOT REPLACE A LAPTOP IN 100% OF THE SITUATIONS YOU USE A LAPTOP FOR. Period!

It's not a mistake of Apple or the iPad that it can't replace your laptop 100% of the time, it's YOUR mistake for assuming/thinking that it can.

Apple would never put the printer driver nightmare on an iPad / iPhone. Doesn't fit with the design rules. Perhaps printing through a computer on a network will come in OS 4 though- that'd represent a good balance.

Honestly it is less of an issue than it would've been just a few years ago, as more people stay in the digital realm. As more people get iPads and devices like iPads that can represent "digital paper", even more people can stay in the digital realm...

Printed materials are so yesterday! ;-)

Just create a PDF and share it online or view it on an iPad.

Seriously, I get the disappointment. But, could this be like when Apple chose to remove floppy drives from computers? As others have said, I print so rarely these days, and now the iPad provides me an even better document viewer.

You can always transfer files elsewhere to print. I know that won't satisfy those who have a specific need to print things from the iPad, but I wonder how many people that really is?

sucks for people who need this, however, I don't think I would ever need to print from my iPad so it doesn't bother me.

Yah. Guess what. Pages doesn't create good PDFs according to at least 2 reviews. Now what?
