I think it's fairly obvious that they're not going to redesign them anytime soon.

Yeah, I wouldn't hold my breath for any major update on the MacBook Pro design. I think they've reached the point where they have a beautiful design, and probably won't change much for a while. However, I'd love to see a 13.3" MacBook Pro in a black or darker grey color (not holding my breath either).

Yeah, I think if Apple was planning on doing a complete redesign, they would have coincided it with the Intel switch and the name change. Since they didn't, I don't see any changes coming for at least a year, until Merom makes its way into the laptops, and Apple will then possibly be able to shrink the enclosures more, etc. ue to the lesser power/heat specs, etc. of Merom.

It's not really a big deal though - it's not like Apple's portable products are ugly. ;)

.................................... Maybe (and probably) a (hopefully, at least as a BTO) core duo ibook (MacBook). Redesigned. The more things the better but the MBP has more power than i need, and has the same (basicly) design of the computer i'm typing on now. not worth $2500.

True, if apple doesn't upgrade their powerbook or ibook (macbook) designs by september i will be mad. its an old design. i HATE old designs.

you don't like a design because it's benn around for a while? so it doesn't matter how practical, useful it is? you don't like it because it's not new?

doesn't make any sense to me. i could understand it if you have a new design that is better than the old one. but as long as there is nothing better/more usful there is no reason to hate the old design. if it it stays for 100 years it would be still good.

I doubt there will be a redesign even then, or at least anything substantial. Apple has created a great product line separation between their aluminum and white plastic enclosures. I don't have a single complaint with the design or form factor of the current 'Books. What would they even change aside from adding a button to right click? 1" thin, decent weight, rounded corners, what else do you need?

I put tank treads on my car because... wheels are so old, I got tired of having round things on my car.

I think the better quesiton there would be, "How much would carbon fiber MacBook Pros cost?" :p ;)

It doesn't matter. PowerBooks have always been overpriced.
