After restoring the iPhone as new on iOS 14 beta 3 (ipsw file), I am unable to sync the messages to the iPhone.
I am continuously getting the status "Downloading Messages from iCloud" on the Messages app of iPhone.
Logout, login, reset settings etc do not work.
This issue is now also occurring on another iPhone on iOS 13.6 and macOS Catalina 10.15.6.
Anyone please help.

I'm having the same issue on my iPad I just restored using 13.6. Possible apple is having an issue on their end but support has been unhelpful so far.

I'm having the same issue too after updating to iOS 14 beta 3 I believe. I tried downgrading to iOS 13.6 with no luck. Bbradac9, did iOS 13.6 fix it for you?

Yeah it was only affecting my iPhone, but then tried signing out of my mac and now its happening on my mac too.

I am having the same issue in iOS 14, PB 3. And same, only on my iPhone. My iPad is on iPadOS 14 and not having the issue.

Has anyone from apple replied to you guys yet? The only thing I've received is them trying to delete all my messages on iCloud to see if it fixes it.

I'm having the same issue on iOS 13.6. I was running iOS 14 PB 3 then decided to go back to 13. I have not been able to download my messages from iCloud.

I called Apple support on Friday and Saturday, but there were not able to help me (we were on the phone for an hour each time I called). They asked me to try resetting my phone and start from scratch rather than restoring from backup, but that never worked as well.

What's weird though, I was also on iPadOS beta and went back to the latest stable version, but that issue never happened—I was able to download all my messages from iCloud.

Yup, same here. Only my Mac + iPhone are having the issue. My iPad is able to sync messages fine. Assuming this will be fixed in a future beta.

I’m guessing we may be stuck until another update comes. Apple engineering had no answers for me.

Same issue here. I was previously on iOS 14 beta, but went back to 13.6. I ended up wiping my phone a week or so later and restored from iCloud backup. Absolutely no messages have been restored on my iPhone. Just as a test, I wiped the messages on my Mac after turning off iCloud and it won't restore messages either. I spoke with a couple senior advisers, then finally got it moved up to engineering. The first senior adviser was terrible, but the second one was much better and said they actually had similar reports from other users. I'm supposed to hear back tomorrow evening.

Apple support is aware of the issue. Senior advisor escalated my case about 5 days ago. Called back 2 days ago to give me some nonsense, “senior tech support says they are aware of the issue. You aren’t alone and they are working on a fix. We will give you another follow up call in 48-72 hours.” In other words, they don’t have a fix yet. Really annoying. Everything was fine. Got a new iPhone, set up as new and boom...message downloading loop on iPhone and iPad. It won’t even let me disable messages in the cloud now.

Simple solution: don’t install a beta on your main daily driver :)

This is why apple was so hesitant about public betas

This would be sage advice. Except you’re assuming it’s on everyone’s main device(s). Whether a back up or a main, the problem exists and it is crucial for people dealing with that problem to let it be known if for no other reason than to make others aware. From what I’ve seen in this thread no one said the beta was expected to be perfect :)

I don't think its even that at this point, since even if you downgrade back to 13.6 you would have the same issues.

I don't really see many people complaining at this point since we all did go to the beta willingly. No harm in talking about a common bug. :)

I may have installed the beta on my iPhone (Since reverted to 13.6), but that wouldn’t explain the fact my Mac isn’t downloading messages either.

I too had the iOS 14 at some point but have the issue on iOS 13.6. Thankfully all my texts are still there.
