I posted this in the Beta 3 thread

Been having horrible battery life on the beta like some on this forum. Ran up the Xcode Beta and looked at Network Activity instruments to see what was going on. From what I can tell it's iCloud syncing related. Noticed my phone has been chewing through data (I run a Wireguard VPN on the phone to my home network). The phone seems to think it's on a wifi network and therefore it thinks it needs to sync with iCloud - not sure why that is since it shouldn't as it is not plugged into power. Anyway the only fix I have found so far is to turn off iMessage in iCloud and also Photos in iCloud.

Thought this might be helpful for some as I see the "downloading messages from iCloud" as well so it might well be iCloud syncing is broken in beta 3

Wonder what the bug is.

Just got off the phone with the senior advisor on my case. He said engineering responded and said they are aware of the issue, it’s server side, and will be resolved with an iOS update. No time estimate given.

You just saved me from calling them back. Worked on my case for 3 days and basically said the same thing minus the server part. Guess I’ll just go to 14 and have a little fun.

if it’s a server issue, I wonder why can’t it be resolved at the server side directly. Why does it require a client side iOS update to resolve.

My messages has also started to sync on beta 4:D

edit: have gone back to IOS 13.6, and my messages sync there as well now. So a bit odd, but happy to have them back :D Don't know if it has anything to do with it, but prolly a coincidence. I've been going back and fourth from beta to stuck, and the only time I experienced problems with the messages sync, was when I restored from a Mac. The other times I've been using a windows 10 machine.

My messages synced back too. Been on 13.6, I toggled iMessage in iCloud off and on, they all started coming through. Same thing with my Mac.
