Looks great, better than the alternatives. However, I have to beg that you include the following before this even launches:
- Offline reading of messages (as in i dont need a internet connection to read my messages - an annoying part of WhatsApp for me)
- ************* Read/Delivered/Typing status ************* this is key

You will be able to read messages offline.

Read/Delivered/Typing status isn't in the 1st version, but we will add it as updates for future versions.

Why so many developers are obsessed with Beejive type of text input filed??? I've always hated it, plus it looks ugly. Is there any way to mirror the native Messages app in this regard? Please?

so what is your revenue model?

It appears to be from people like me that paid for Unlimited SMS! Intead of putting the money made from that app into making it better and more feature rich, and to maintain and increase the carriers supported for SMS, they come out with a free iPhone to iPhone app that has no revenue. Thanks guys....

The problem is that if we mirror the native Messages app, Apple will reject the app because there isn't enough "differentiation".

We won't be profiting from this app.

By offering this app for free, we are anticipating more users will use our other non-free services such as Unlimited SMS and Mail Notifier.

Why would people buy an app if the free one does what they want???????? If they need something the free app doesn't offer, they wouldn't use it in the first place.

What you need is good word of mouth from satisfied customers that have friends using iPhones. I was satisfied....now I am not so sure.

Will Unlimited SMS users be able to send messages to the free app? It better or there is no upgrade path which would kill the idea of users upgrading.

I agree. This sounds like such a bulls hit mess, you should concentrate in improving unlimited sms and stop messing round with new app

Who said that? So many other messaging apps have similar chat bubbles, text input fields, fonts, etc. Please, reconsider!

Our initial version of Unlimited SMS had the similar text input field like the default Messages app.

After numerous times of Apple rejecting the app because it looked too similar to the default Messages app, we decided to change it.

Apple's review process is known to be inconsistent, which is why we were also pretty upset with the rejection.

We will look into making the text input more elegant, but also approvable by Apple.

The introduction of Messagenow does not take away any of the R&D budget of Unlimited SMS.

We will continue to reinvest our R&D efforts into Unlimited SMS. Unlimited SMS users will see plenty of new updates to come in the future.

This FREE app has limited use much like the other iphone to iphone apps already. It's basically a "lite" version of USMS. People can try it out and if they enjoy it and wish to text other contacts that do not have iphones they can buy USMS. How does that unsatisify anyone?

How can the free Messagenow not take resources away from Unlimited SMS?

Will Unlimited SMS users be able to communicate with Messagenow users and vice versa?

Do your self, and everyone else, a favor and include this in the first release if you want to get ahead of the game. Otherwise, iMessenger it is.

I wish the app had a better name :p

Messagenow looks kinda weird... wish it was maybe iPush or something.

The first release has already been submitted to Apple. We are currently working on the 2nd release and it will have this feature.

Questions

So will it be like Ping in the way it doesn't require a password?
Also, align the bubble to the right as usually the texts your type are on the right and the friend of the left.
Is it possible to link a user ID to the address book?
Great application, I'm looking forward to it and it will be replacing my Ping because of the price...NOTHING! Which helps me recommend friends to use the app:)
Assuming its available in Australia...Will it be available internationally? Or just in the US? (Don't be like Photoshop.com)
