Same issue for me.
Glad I found this thread!

The messenger app update that came out today 333.0 does NOT fix the issue.

The banner pops up
There is NO badge
but the badges does appear if you go into the app without reading the message, come out. Obviously, this is silly.

I have tried a delete, restart and re-install.
My phone is from a backup.

I'm sure Apple/Facebook are working on it.

Hey everyone. As of 4PM PST Facebook messenger is now working again. I am receiving badge notifications and all messages are coming through as normal. I think FB and iOS have changed a setting to enable this to work. Either way, good news :)

Agreed 😊
Suddenly started working for me too - thank goodness! Was driving me nuts 🤣

Confirmed it's now working. Looks like it was something on messengers end they fixed

Hmmm... My Messenger badges not found ... I must enter application and write message. Hmm some people's working... My messenger no...

Well suddenly it started working this morning, however no matter how many people text me the badge says '2' xD

Mine started working about ten days or so ago however has since stopped again on phone

Mine started working on it's own a week or two ago and been fine since.
A friend now has the same issue, would be good to know what you can do to force the fix through.

It’s not just messenger. It intermittently happens in outlook and signal as well - I hear the ding tone but when I look at the phone there’s no badge. It’s an iOS 15 thing, since all the same apps display badges on my 14.8 iPad.

Any solution to this issue? My messenger works for a while but then all notifications suddenly stops. Super annoying, I use messenger as my primary chat application.

It seems like removing the app, re-install it and then reboot fixes the issue for me but only for a while. Could be hours, days or weeks and then it's dead again.

There must be someone that has discovered a long term fix for this issue?
