Strange, I use MetaX (2.4.6)) all the time with Handbrake rips (0.9.4 x86_64 (2009112300). No problems here on OS 10.6.3.

Actually, I find it to be the best tool for TV show. I haven't found any other tool with as good a lookup function for TV--the key I've found is to search using only the episode name. When tagging a season for a specific series, I usually lookup the first episode, check any fields consistent across all episodes and save it as a preset. Then I just lookup each individual episode, check the rest of the respective fields and move on to the next--usually run a batch of about a dozen episodes at a time. I can have an entire season tagged in 30-45 minutes.

has anyone tried vitalin for tagging tv shows - is it any good?

I used Vidalin for a while as an alternative to MetaX--very simple, clean setup (only uses fields pertinent to display in :apple:TV) with a decent lookup function. I found the lookup to be a bit hit or miss for movies and I don't believe it works at all for TV. Also, you're limited to tagging one file at a time. So as long as you don't mind entering everything manually, it'll work just fine.

iFlicks works perfect for me. Both movies and tv shows.

Same here. It will even wrap avi's in an mov container for use with hacked AppleTVs. Turns it into a nice, automatic process. I just wish it did chapters.

+1 for iflicks. Works great for me and the one time I had a question, the developer got back to me that day. I use it almost every day for tv shows, and a few times a week for movies (at least until I get all the dvd's read in).

+1 for Subler

I never really had issues with MetaX aside from when TagChimp stopped working and some random crashes. I gave Subler a try this week and don't think I'm going back. Saving metadata is much quicker and some of the additional feature are nice.
