This design is stale on the IPad Pro (2018 user), looking for an improvement. Odds of an upgrade next week

It’s still going to be mini LED and not micro which is a coming future thing and not mass market yet.

I’m not sure - I bet the Pro stays as is. We shall see :)

I would also love to know if there is going to be an updated Pro this year. My 2017 iPad Pro‘s battery life is degrading i want to pass it down to my mother, her Air 2 battery life is even worse. If I could be sure there is no update in the next couple of months, I would hit the buy button and get the latest one with the Magic Keyboard.

Micro will be introduced by the Apple Watch before it ever gets to the bigger screen lineup. Mini-LED is possible though.

It seems unlikely. They’ve still got the pro listed as new on the website.

Pro deliveries are taking a month. You could always reserve a spot in line and cancel if they do update.

that’s a good point actually, delivery dates are like a few weeks to a month out. I think that’s due to high demand rather than anything else (during the pandemic I think more people are ordering them).

There were rumors that the first mini-LED iPads would be released near the end of 2020. However, I think COVID caused that to slip into 2021. Not impossible, but all the recent rumors point to only a refresh of the iPad Air this month.

I personally feel the screen, even the current iPad Screen is just fine but having said that if Mini or Micro or whatever LED comes it would be a welcomed arrival. But I feel Apple should try and concentrate on giving some more Wow/Magical Features & Functionality to the iPad and the iPad OS !

I don’t think we will see it the mini LED version of the iPad Pro this year now, I think it might have been planned with it being 10 years since iPad etc... but I think with COVID etc they are going to make this event with the new Air model the anniversary event.

I think all we are going to see for the year ahead is...

SEPTEMBER

iPad
iPad Air
Apple Watch
HomePod Mini
AirPods Studio
AirTags

OCTOBER

iPhone 12
iPhone 12 Pro
AirPower (with them removing the power adapter this might be a perfect introduction to it)
New Silicon Mac of some kind

and I think that will pretty much wrap up 2020 for new product launches.

however, as I haven’t ordered my 12.9 iPP as of yet I am just going to hold out until Tuesday just to be sure before I take the plunge.

I think the rumours that the A14X chip is only going to start mass production in Q4 puts any chance of an iPad Pro upgrade on ice until next year now

I have said this before.
1) not happening. No hints leaks or rumours that a consumption display will make it on the Pro
2) more is always welcome as long as your apps gain extra traction.
3) the 14 isn’t even announced. Not happening
4) OLED branded Pro xdr see 1)
