So they used all their micro OLED screens for the Vision Pro to the detriment of the Watch. No surprise.

It really seems that way. I found rumors on this site as far back as July 2016 saying that MicroLED could be in Apple Watches starting in 2017 (Series 3).I swear MicroLED is the fusion energy of the display world. Beyond a few demonstrations, mass market release is ALWAYS just a few years away.
I've been hearing about it for over 10 years now.

The Watch will use microLED. Apple is building the tech to manufacture microLED.
Very different tech and one does not interfere with the other.
They generally do annual updates even if they are small. This is not for people who bought last year’s model. It’s to entice people who haven’t bought one, yet. Most people don’t buy every new version that comes out either for watch, phone, MacBook, etc. They buy one and wait a couple of years or longer to upgrade again.
Smamd here. The only thing I think that would tempt me before that point is if they finally introduce optical glucometry, but I think that’s still a ways awaystill wearing the S6 for the near future, unless a new must have sensor in S9/S10 I don't see the point of upgrading until microLED.
The Apple Watch ultra has a fantastically bright screen and contrast ratio is good. Battery life is excellent. Not sure I need a faster refresh rate on a watch either, or a faster processor - it’s a watch after all. Given what it cost and how much I love it, I won’t be upgrading for some years it’s great at it is. Unless of course as an earlier poster has said there is a killer new feature/sensor.
Apple acquired LuxVue Technology on May 2, 2014, one year before the Apple Watch debuted on April 24, 2015. And on the very day LuxVue Technology was acquired by Apple there were people on MacRumors speculating about its use in an upcoming "iWatch".It really seems that way. When I was looking at buying my first Apple Watch, a Series 4, there were plenty of people saying to hold off, because the MicroLED Series 5 (and definitely by Series 6) was just around the corner. And unicorns and leprechauns will travel in your wake, and everyone everywhere will just get along.
Yes, but I think we are talking about significantly smaller screens. This would be potential iWatch tech. Doubtful it is for the iPhone.
I’m hoping that they finally give us a new SOC on a smaller process. Hoping for 3nm but I’d take 5nm. The current SOC is a slight variation on the same 7nm S4 SOC that came out in the Series 4. I’d love a SOC with more efficient cores and a longer battery life.Give me Watch rumors for S9 this year!!!!!!!. No rumors mean no updates?. We even have iPhone 17-18 rumors (finger print reader) but nothing on S9?!. Suspiciously boring “release” this year. At least a price cut, no?
Ah, well there you go even further back than I found.Apple acquired LuxVue Technology on May 2, 2014, one year before the Apple Watch debuted on April 24, 2015. And on the very day LuxVue Technology was acquired by Apple there were people on MacRumors speculating about its use in an upcoming "iWatch".
This post is from May 2, 2014 (9 years ago!):
With LuxVue, Apple gains a well-funded maker of display technology that could benefit advancements in battery life or possibly screens for new Apple device categories like the rumored "iWatch" wearable. The startup, founded in 2009, had accumulated $43.8 million in venture capital funding primarily from ID Ventures America and Kleiner Perkins.
Beyond that, information about LuxVue is scarce, though the company holds numerous micro LED patents and its tech has been described by Kleiner Perkins partner John Doerr as "a technical breakthrough in displays."
Can’t wait for Apple to announce $3k starting price for iPhone 15 Ultra (or Pro Max, however they call the top iPhone).Just solve it like you always did. Add a premium of 3K. People will buy it, cause it is Apple.
Yup. We just have to wait and see. I like the AW Ultra 5x as much as previous AW versions but I certainly do not see any likely improvements that would get me to upgrade from the v1 Ultra. So is Apple still shipping a refreshed version of the Apple Watch Ultra this year as has been reported by some recently or will Apple wait until the new display technology is ready before it ships the next Ultra? I can see them delivering a spec bump each year to justify the price but can’t think of anything other than some kind of new sensor or the new display technology that would get somebody who just dropped $700+ on one to do it again so soon.

Believe it or not, our planet spins, and people live in different parts of the planet.since when did macrumor be came vampires ? A vary early morning read
I’d suggest waiting for NanoLED.

I'll never understand why the second one was called the Series 1I’m still using the series 0 watch!
Upgrade whichever you like. That screen change ain’t gonna shatter everything else.So you're saying I shouldn't wait to upgrade my Series 4 for the Apple Watch Ultra 4 because the specs suck so I should wait for the Apple Watch Ultra 5? Or I should just get the Apple Watch Ultra 2 this year? Or will it be called the Apple Watch Ultra Series 1?
