there
actually EDGE is not up to par and annoying sluggish now after 3 days.
to many hoops to jump through to change a simple setting.
while safari is fast steady and easier.

so I deleted the program

then again my internet habits would not be a yard stick
since I dont perform the post reddit comments, usually shopping, searching or streaming of any videos for watching as others do. I have any amazon links blocked now so I'm happy!

Have not tried Edge on any apple product, but I have edge on my windows 11 laptop..... it is an ok browser as far as speed, but every time you open a new window or tab you see the news articles that conform to what the current administration in the White House wants you to see, like about the invasion of the southern border, and others and COMMENTING ON THE ARTICLES IS BLOCKED OUT. too much censorship on edge and Facebook since 2020.

You know you can change this...right?

This is what my new window/tab page looks like...

In most of what I've read, Safari is the best and fastest browser out there for the Mac

I am *not* seeing that as the case! Has anyone else noticed the lightning speeds of Edge?

Any recent comparisons out there on the interwebs?

PS - M$ just passed Apple as the most valued company on the planet.. good on them, they're doing a great job with applying AI everywhere! =)
I switched from Safari to Edge a while ago and never looked back. Safari is too flakey with the sites I use regularly. Edge is quick and reliable. I'm NOT a Microsoft fan, but in this case, it is clearly a better choice, IMHO.

Safari is a steaming turd. Edge is a much better browser. Cleaner implementation, better performance, cross platform, better addin support for adblockers etc and generally a much nicer user experience.

.... but only after you've spent 20 minutes unconfiguring garbage and disabling all the excrement they plugged into it and trying to stop it going bananas.

I'm really lost here. Everything is just poo at the moment.

NewTabPageLocation "If a blank tab is preferred, "about:blank" is the correct URL to use, not "about://blank"." ;)
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/DeployEdge/microsoft-edge-policies#newtabpagelocation

That is more for enterprise / corporate machines. Is there any way around that? The next paragraph states:
This policy is available only on Windows instances that are joined to a Microsoft Active Directory domain, joined to Microsoft Azure Active Directory, or instances that enrolled for device management. On macOS, this policy is available only on instances that are managed via MDM or joined to a domain via MCX.

You can have "about:blank" (or any other URL) show when Edge is opened, or when clicking the Home button...just not for new tabs unless you meet the conditions above. For the average user, the only option is to customize their news feed. In my previous post, I customized it to not show content.

You are correct, I missed that requirement.
The value is ignored when installed with a profile.

The homepage is saved in ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft Edge/Default/Secure Preferences but I don’t know where new tab settings are saved. It might be worth investigating.
