Microsoft employees react to Samsung vs. Apple verdict

No doubt the MSFT guys are laughing their butts off right now.

Though, I think 2013 will be the rise of MSFT in the mobile sphere, largely at android, symbian and blackberry's expense. I think this is the case with or without the Samsung copycat verdict.

Actually, there is a point here: Copying others' work illegally is not a viable business strategy, which is something that Apple and Microsoft both seem to understand but Samsung does not. Hopefully, this ruling will force some diversity in the development of smart phones.

Somebody has to say it. Yes, it is a viable business strategy, as Samsung has sold many, many phones worldwide, but it's certainly not a good idea if you have laws in place that guarantee somebody a monopoly on an idea for 20 years (by which time the iPhone won't even look the same) and a sea of bloodsucking lawyers, judges and politicians around.

You'd think you iphanz would have learned that by now Apple does nothing but copy. They haven't had an original idea in years. Example:

And this is my issue with Apple. They are awaiting hypocrite. Since they can't innovate any more, they steal from Android. They aren't making their phones look like anyone else because they only have 1 design idea.

Notifications in Android are awful. I wish they were as good as the ones in Notification Center. But that's a developer issue. Like, with the BeWeather app, when I get a severe weather alert, it's a measly note that tells me that there's a # of alerts with no indication of what kind - Flash flood, heat, severe thunderstorms, etc.

And as far as I know, you can only open the camera from the lock screen, nothing else (minus Cydia)...

Really? what phone are you using? My Android notifications are MUCH more robust and practical than iOS EVER offered me. With iOS, if you miss it on the screen, you have to guess whether you received a notification and pull down the notification tab. With Android, you have either a LED notification, a vibrate to let you know you missed something. And you have the notifications at the top of the phone to show you you missed information.... On top of that, the notification tab allows you EASY access to things like WiFi, BT and various other settings rather than digging into the settings menu.

Notification center for iOS is great if you are constantly staring at your screen or checking it manually in case you missed something.

As far as not accessing notifications past a lockscreen, personally I don't want any Tom, Dick or Jane being able to pick up my phone and access my business.

It's not a skin. CyanogenMod is an alternative ROM that works similar to stock Android, as in Galaxy Nexus stock.

Huh?!?! Notifications in Android blow iOS away, either yours isn't set up right or something else. I don't use Cyan, prefer other custom Roms so maybe your issue is due to Cyan. iOS Notification center was half assed, could be so much better and I'm sure Apple will be improving it. I liked tweaking it through Cydia though.

Yeah, i know what it is. I was using CM9 for the last 8 months on nightly builds. Don't believe for one second you are using a stock rom or something similar. Your critique of Android NC is based off a skinned ROM. I suggest you look at someone else's phone

All of this being said, the notifications show as below regardless of whether it's FB or any other social thingy. I can also alter how much info or lines of an email are shown in the NC. Also note that any notifications that show in detail below are reflected in the top left corner of my phone, so I always know when something has been done or is waiting.

Im thinking largely at iPhones expense since they(Android) have most of the market share, but yes, they will take some regardless.Windows will have more phone choices and bigger screens which imo will cut into iPhones action while they only have the 1/2" longer and not wider phone to choose from...and of course their current tiny ones. Well, we assume they are getting a longer phone. No official word yet though.

When i get a notification from the play store that there are updates, i go read them. Just click on it and there they are. I dont have any of my apps on auto update because i want to know whats different. If i dont, i just update it and it says successful. Thats good enough for me and i have those choices.

Actually I could hide the security icon if I chose and the wifi shows how Juice Defender is operating. I never manually manage my wifi. Also, what more do I need to know about an app being successfully updated? How long it took?
