On my 2008 MacPro with windows7 x64 I lock my frame rate at 33 and it rarely drops below that. Most of my settings are high or ultra high. Very happy with the sim and the performance.
I have bought almost every version of MS FS since the beginning skipping the last several versions. I just bought FSX and installed SP 1 & 2.
A few quick questions:
How do I choose an approach for landing at a certain runway at a certain airport?
Is there any way to turn off the screen that reloads terrain after a crash?

I think to choose an approach for landing at a certain runway at a certain airport you need to fly there and save that as a flight. I do not know another way but there must be one
As far as your second question I do not think you can.

I was running X-Plane 9 on my Hackintosh Core2Duo 2.8 MHz, and it was doing good, but I wanted more. So I built the ultimate Hackintosh using a Core i7, 6 Gigabytes memory and a GeForce GTS 250 video card with 1 Gig of memory. It has 3 hard drives, 1 with Snow Leopard 10.6.2, another with 10.6.3 and another with Windows 7, 64 Bit.

X-Plane likes the extra power, and I noticed an increase in performance after upgrading from 10.6 to 10.6.2.

FSX seems to like the power also. This computer has never had a lower version of Windows, so I cannot compare performance.

I am having no joy with my joystick, a CH Flightstick Pro on FSX. On X-Plane 9, it works great.
After programming the buttons, some of them work somewhat for one flight, but will not work on the next flight. Sometimes, the joystick will not work at all on the next flight. Then it will work the next day for awhile and then stop working.

As I said previously, it always works great with X-Plane.

Any suggestions?
