According to the MS site comparing XP to Vista to Win7, it seems that XP is more than sufficient for 99% of my Windows needs. There's still nothing compelling to Win7, unless that were to be my sole OS (which it would never be). Actually, I find it headache-inducing from a user experience perspective, much like the Office 2007 suite. Changing stuff for change's sake is great for marketing, sure, but not necessarily more effective or better at what the prior iteration did. Sorta like the last election.
Great for new users, folks that already are "sold" on the Windows experience & all, but from a competitive standpoint, meh. Certainly nothing switch-worthy there that I can find. More like going from a Ford to a Chevy because the Chevy now has a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Still and all, I really hope MS builds on this. Their success makes all users better off, whether they use Windows, MacOS, or Linux.
