My favorite part of the ad was the end title, where it says "Summer 2006"....any day now I guess

Either that or they will release it late, that would be a big surprise! :D

Hey if it's better than the ipod i'll get it over the ipod. kinda hope it works with itunes

Yeah, same here. Not that I don't love Apple and their products, but if Microsoft comes out with something revolutionary and I truely like it better than Apple's offering, I'd get it. (Assuming it is compatible with Mac)

One more thing in reply to the quoted post, I believe iTunes has a DRM so music can only be transferred to an iPod.

Oh, and I liked the commercial. It wasn't so bad.

The advertisement was horrible.

Why?

Because all the guys look like douchebags who try way too hard and spend 20 minutes each morning staring at the mirror, doing their hair, etc. They look too done up, and while the girls at least looked normal, the girls in the city all look too slick.

Give me a commercial with more casual people in it that don't dress up slick like they're in the Matrix, and I'd have liked the commercial much more.

that is a long ass commercial. It was okay, it didn't really move me.

Ditto. Long, boring and was rubbish... 'what's he holding??' comes to mind... there's got to be a link between this teaser ad and the actual product (Zune) otherwise people aren't going to be excited when Zune actually comes out because they wont have recognised the buildup.

I think the biggest thing the Zune has going for it is that the iPod has been out for so long with essentially the same form factor, it (to me at least) is beginning to look a bit dated. Any new, fresh design - whether from Microsoft or Apple - has a good chance at taking market share.

competition won't drive prices down. no way.
competition will however drive innovation and better products pushed out.

If any company othet than Microsoft were involved, I'd tend to agree with you, but when you throw the Redmond, WA beast into the picture, they're all about cut throat prices and weakening their competitors through decreased margins.

That's stupid. What ever they are trying to promote is going to fail. That commercial went no where.
The second video is a fake one. Someone made it.

Well it's not a Zune ad, but the hipsters in the commercial look so mesmerized by whatever it is that I must have it anyway!
