Humm? First contrary to what my asking about adaptors made you "believe" ::::
In my OP I clearly stated " I just read through the lengthy thread " , but that I was still unclear about some things and was simply asking for more specific qualified clarifications. Did you actually read my OP and are taking my confusion as lying ?

More importantly Why clutter up that thread with my specific questions when it seems abundantly more efficient to start a more specifically qualified thread ?
Also I am just one person not everybody, and this is simply one related thread WITH SPECIFIC QUALIFIERS not thousands.

And most importantly why would you even care ? Are you in charge of forum efficiency ?
You do realize that you are in effect by end running and innuendo breaking the forum rule under Things not to do 7. Instructing other members to search. Instructing members to search themselves for an answer

The take away I got from your first post here was, "I don't want to read that whole thread".

I care because it will just lead to more people doing the same. Unfortunately, I'm not in charge. Nowhere did I tell you to search. You already knew where the thread was but decided to skew off and start another thread anyway.

Your "take away" is mistaken, plain and simple . Your reading in and imagining something that is clearly not in my OP, is not my responsibility. My OP is very clear I said I read it through.
So are you calling me a lier ? It's a simple yes or no question, stop deflecting with phrases like "take way" the answer is either yes, or no .

If Yes , there is nothing I can say that will make any difference and further discourse is pointless.
If No then let go of your concerns and cares about what "more people" might do and stop injecting those non applicable, unrelated topics into this discussion.

So one last time, if you have something to contribute that relates to the technical and or experiential aspects of up grading a Mid 2010 6 core cMP, feel free to do so.

If not, feel free to start you own thread about your cares and concerns and stop mucking up my thread .

Thanks for replying, I am as I said in the process of researching and open to all opinions and experiences. Can I ask which adaptor brand you are using for the SM951? Thanks, Kev

Thanks again to handheld games for the original thread, which I spent a lot of time poring over before installing a SM941 (on sale from RamCity, with whom I have no affiliation) with Lycom adapter. I use it as my boot disk, and it FLIES! To be fair, I went directly from a spinning disk to this, so the transition seemed drastic. Maybe I wouldn't notice that it was better than a standard SSD, but I have another computer with an SSD as the boot disk, and I feel like I can tell a difference in how 'snappy' it is. For me, snappiness is a huge quality of life issue. To each his own.

I started reading that thread the day it was first posted, and have dropped back into it periodically to catch up. At this point, though, it's long. I don't think it's unreasonable for someone to put out a brief, specific advice thread that will basically die in a few days anyways. The alternative is adding another 10 posts to an already saturated thread. If you are weary of posting advice to folks who do this, just stop posting advice. Those of us who have benefited from others like yourself (who often posts very helpful info) can re-post the information once in a while.

Thanks for the info. And yes indeed a big thanks to handheld games . As stated in my OP, I also read through handheld games thread. And I also reread parts of it several times and the true irony being that the original post is the one I went back to a number of times for reference to see if I was beginning to get a handle on the significant amount of info and techie terminology much of which had been a bit foreign and confusing to me at the start.
But I am glad I did and glad I started this thread, because almost all the replies have been very helpful. Thanks, Kev
