good luck!!! working at an apple store would be one of the funnest jobs i can think of. how much do they pay?
anyway, again, good luck!!!
Jake

It's actually not. It's one of the funnest RETAIL jobs, but certainly not everything you think it is. It's akin to working for GAP, Abercrombie, Eddie Bauer, or any other retail estabishment.

To the OP:

If you get hired @ Apple, say goodbye to MR and you'll sign a 5 year nda contract too.. Yes the nda is requirement of employment @ the retail level too..

Even the retail level doesn't know 'bout future product releases..

This isn't entirely true. I worked for Apple retail for 3 years and always posted here on MR. They don't track your computer, and as long as you don't go babbling to your manager that your screenname is "AppleEmployee84" and that you posted that you heard new iPods were coming out next week, you'll be fine.

I could be wrong about this, but I'm pretty sure Apple Retail and Apple Corporate are two distinct divisions. In other words, there's really no ladder to climb.

Maybe having Apple retail on your resume might help in applying for an Apple Corporate position, but I'm not even sure about that.

They are. And Apple SOMETIMES hires from within based on a number of factors. For instance, one of my friends who was a genius now works on the iPhone development team. Another one works for the MacBook Pro division.

Again, Apple retail is probably the best RETAIL jobs out there (Pay was above average for my retail market...$9/hr in Wisconsin, the discounts are great if you can afford to take advantage of them, especially that 25% hardware discount, free shirts, the occasional free iPod and iPhone, etc.) But don't get so drunk on the Kool-Aid, it's still retail...and retail sucks.

Yeah, I think the same thing. It might look decent on a resume, but you'll still be passed over for more experienced indivduals.

billmister: where in Jersey are you? I know there are a lot of stores and some are not that far away from each other (GS Plaza and Tice's Corner)

I'm in essex co. And the place i have to go is Cherry hill. That's far. Mapquest says 1.5 hours... my boss says 2 hours... i still want to go to meet the staff. I can't wait. I believe it will be a cool experience. If it was in short hills that would be awsome, because that's 8 minutes away from my full time job!

good luck Bill.

Personally, I would never drive 1.5 hours (for any job!). I used to drive 45 minutes to work and while that isn't a long drive, since I've been at home with the kids, I realize my time is worth a helluva lot more than driving anything longer than 20 minutes to any job. I'll take a lower paying job to be closer to home. I pity the peeps who have to drive far for their jobs. talk about life wasting away.

sorry..went on a bit of a rant there.

btw, if you do get an apple job closer to home, you owe that GF of yours a nice present. :)

Is following your dream worth 3 hours of commute a day to you? Totally up to you to judge that. Personally, I'm moving across the entire country to follow a dream, so I would probably say yes if I were in your position.

Does you notice about any fully deaf employees that work at Apple store?

I just wonders because I'm fully deaf member.

I think he was being complimentary to the OP and assuming he would live up to any agreements he signed.

Yeah, working for Apple Corporate and working for Apple retail are two very different things imo.

Driving 3 hours round trip for a retail job is ridiculous, especially with today's gas prices.
