Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Might be a software issue on your Mac.Otto Rehhagel said:OK, this is getting old, but my problem just got more complicated.
I took the mouse to the Apple Store, again. I ran into one of the employees there and asked to demonstrate my problem. Suddenly the mighty mouse regained its super-powers. It worked just fine. I was surprised and obviously had no case with Apple anymore.
I assumed it was fixed and I took it home again. WRONG. It still had the problem. I plugged it into my iMac isight 20" and my dual 1ghz g4 mdd and the same problem occured both times.
What is going on? Is it my computer?I use Tiger on both computers.
I know its just a fifty dollar mouse, but its also fifty dollars that I could have spent elsewhere.

Not sure I would rule it out just yet. Just because it happens on two machines doesn't mean it isn't software-related, just as much as it doesn't mean that it's hardware-related.Otto Rehhagel said:That would be Macs, one brand new iMac G5 iSight, and one 3 year old G4. Yeah, I thought of that, but ruled it out once I realized all my software is up to date. But thanks for the suggestion.

Great job, Apple, on becoming the next Sony.
p.s. I won't even get into how my iPod video 30GB randomly restarts itself every 5-10 minutes. I guess Apple is debuting a new copy protection feature into its iPods--one that keeps me from "copying" any songs into my memory by not allowing it to finish playing.![]()

You have two Macs. The mouse doesn't work on either of them. It works on the Macs in the Apple store, however. This doesn't mean it's a hardware issue at all. It doesn't mean it's a software issue either, but what on both Macs would be easier to create by mistake - a hardware or software issue? I think if you have the same things installed on both machines (do you?), you could see similar issues on both with the mouse.
Do you have any software installed that could be conflicting with the mouse? If you have it on one of your Macs, you might just as easily have it on both. I don't know if anyone suggested this, but maybe you should try creating a new user account on one of the Macs and see if it works on that account. Also, try logging into one of the machines without Login Items (press and hold the Shift key at login).

As for mice, all I can say is that the numerous laptops I have bought from Apple in the past decade, only one of the trackpads was slightly faulty and I am picky. As for mice -- I still like the old usb black and white optical ones from like three and a half years ago. But that's just me. New fandangled mice? Battery sucking bluetooth mice? I'm only on laptops and I don't need 'em. But will say the hocky puck mice still work but are completely annoying.
Haha. sounds like my luck! I have a mighty mouse and I haven't experienced those problems yet. To tell you the truth - it's not that great of a mouse IMO, even if it worked.Otto Rehhagel said:OK, this is getting old, but my problem just got more complicated.

There not the best looking mice, but hey, mine still works too. Same with my sister's "super fast" iMac G3 333MHz 32MB pink iMac.Dont Hurt Me said:I forgot about that one, but you know what? my old imac 333 hockey mouse still works.![]()
