My Mighty Mouse works perfect....as with all the ones in the store that are ABUSED. Keep trying until you get a working one. They're awesome mice though, I love mine.

Right click won't work

I'm a recent Mac switcher. I have a imac isight G5. I can't get the right click to work either, but I thougth maybe I had to set it to do that.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Ok. I'm a little slow. I figured it out. I didn't realize there was a Secondary Button option for the MM.

UPDATE: part 3

OK, this is getting old, but my problem just got more complicated.

I took the mouse to the Apple Store, again. I ran into one of the employees there and asked to demonstrate my problem. Suddenly the mighty mouse regained its super-powers. It worked just fine. I was surprised and obviously had no case with Apple anymore.

I assumed it was fixed and I took it home again. WRONG. It still had the problem. I plugged it into my iMac isight 20" and my dual 1ghz g4 mdd and the same problem occured both times.

What is going on? Is it my computer? I use Tiger on both computers.

I know its just a fifty dollar mouse, but its also fifty dollars that I could have spent elsewhere.

Might be a software issue on your Mac.

That would be Macs, one brand new iMac G5 iSight, and one 3 year old G4. Yeah, I thought of that, but ruled it out once I realized all my software is up to date. But thanks for the suggestion.

Not sure I would rule it out just yet. Just because it happens on two machines doesn't mean it isn't software-related, just as much as it doesn't mean that it's hardware-related.

You have two Macs. The mouse doesn't work on either of them. It works on the Macs in the Apple store, however. This doesn't mean it's a hardware issue at all. It doesn't mean it's a software issue either, but what on both Macs would be easier to create by mistake - a hardware or software issue? I think if you have the same things installed on both machines (do you?), you could see similar issues on both with the mouse.

Do you have any software installed that could be conflicting with the mouse? If you have it on one of your Macs, you might just as easily have it on both. I don't know if anyone suggested this, but maybe you should try creating a new user account on one of the Macs and see if it works on that account. Also, try logging into one of the machines without Login Items (press and hold the Shift key at login).

Just endured long lines at a local Apple Store to exchange my defective mighty mouse for a new shrink-wrapped one. Guess what...THE SAME PROBLEM. Heat sensitive surface, irradic clicking, schizophrenic scrolling, refusal to right click.

Great job, Apple, on becoming the next Sony.

p.s. I won't even get into how my iPod video 30GB randomly restarts itself every 5-10 minutes. I guess Apple is debuting a new copy protection feature into its iPods--one that keeps me from "copying" any songs into my memory by not allowing it to finish playing.

Read on another thread that your iPod's symptoms are indicative of a loose hard drive connection. Get thee back to Apple with it -- and Apple ain't Sony.

As for mice, all I can say is that the numerous laptops I have bought from Apple in the past decade, only one of the trackpads was slightly faulty and I am picky. As for mice -- I still like the old usb black and white optical ones from like three and a half years ago. But that's just me. New fandangled mice? Battery sucking bluetooth mice? I'm only on laptops and I don't need 'em. But will say the hocky puck mice still work but are completely annoying.

I will try this. I see your logic and it should make SOME difference. I was under the impression that software conflicted with hardware only in OS 9 and earlier. (At least that has been my experience) I guess I have a lot to learn about OS X.

Funny how my hockey puck still works like the day I it came with my B/W G3. As far as laptops go, I had a serious problem with my 17" 1.33GHz because the 2nd 512 MB ram chip was creating pressure on the underside of the trackpad, not allowing it to click--a common problem according to the Apple Genius that saw it.

For me, yes, Apple is becoming a "mass marketing" company, like Sony. (Some would say that Sony wishes they were like Apple these days ;)) It is not too far fetched to expect Apple's newly commited focus surrounding the iPod and iTunes may lead to less emphasis on Macs and general build quality of their products. This is just my analysis based on some recent tech news.

That being said, I still feel like a little kid in a toy store when I hear of new Apple product releases.

Haha. sounds like my luck! I have a mighty mouse and I haven't experienced those problems yet. To tell you the truth - it's not that great of a mouse IMO, even if it worked.

I forgot about that one, but you know what? my old imac 333 hockey mouse still works.
There not the best looking mice, but hey, mine still works too. Same with my sister's "super fast" iMac G3 333MHz 32MB pink iMac.

Can someone please tell me how to add the "Mail Contents of This Page" option that's in Safari>File to the right-click menu? I'm stumped..
