The "download an older version of the app that's compatible with this OS" trick doesn't always work. Some app publishers pull older versions of their apps from the store so only the current version is available for download.

Tumblr for iOS is particularly bad for this - if you've got an older device running an older iOS with an older version of the Tumblr app and you delete it, you won't be able to redownload it. It's annoying.

I haven't come across many Mac apps that do this, but they could if they wanted to.

Another reason to avoid it. Great.

Catalina is fine on my MBA because it doesn't have FW but I'll definitely avoid it on my i5 and i7 MBPs. This information means that eventually they will go to Mojave and no further. Here we have yet another example of Apple's ever increasingly bad behaviour: essentially they're saying to us that because they've dropped FW from their machines, as far as they're concerned, they don't think that we should use it any more either.

Are there any drives that have everything i.e. FW400/800, USB3, eSATA and Thunderbolt?

I have a few Freecom external HDDs that feature FW400/800, USB3, eSATA but not Thunderbolt.

Are you sure they didn't at some point remove and re-list Tumblr as a new app?

I mean, you could be right, but I've had several instances now where people said it didn't work for some app, and in the end it actually did.

Take your pick! Both run well on the '09 Mini3,1. Catalina is slightly more refined to date. Either macOS is very useful.

The current OCLP returns Firewire booting to Big Sur. Look for it soon on Catalina. See v.0.1.7, here: https://github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/releases Works, perfectly. 😎
